Benny D's Top Ten Tips To Music Industry Success

Benny D's Top Ten Tips To Music Industry Success
Benny D is a man with the knowledge, experience and insight into what it takes to be successful in the music industry. The CEO and producer of London recording studio “Powerstudio” has worked with Amy Winehouse, Plan B, Paloma Faith, Robbie Williams, Eve and Depeche Mode to name a few.

Benny D is also the brainchild of the London Artist Development programme (L.A.D.) - www.londonartistdevelopment.co.uk.

1. Confidence, not arrogance - it is vital that you breath confidence in your performances. There’s nothing worse than watching someone uncomfortable no matter how good they are.

2. Uniqueness, not blandness - be unique and you will go far as long as your quirks match your talent. There are thousands and thousands of people that want to do what you want to do so make sure you stand out from the crowd.

3. Stage presence - goes hand-in-hand with part one. You need to own the stage and make sure that all eyes are on you. This doesn’t mean parading around but instead encapsulating the audience with whatever mood, emotion or feeling the song is representing.

4. Persistence - there aren’t too many acts that haven’t heard the words NO, NOT YET, MAYBE NEXT YEAR so don’t get too disheartened. Some of the biggest acts of all time have been told they are not good enough. Belief is key.

5. Development, craft your act - rarely can anyone say there’s no room for improvement in their act. Work hard, sweat, graft and don’t wait for tomorrow to improve today!

6. Social Media - with the way the Internet has changed the face of music it is crucial you have a good grasp of social media and a good website to represent you and acquire you new fans.

7. Content - ensure that the content on your social media and website is up-to-scratch. There’s only one chance to make a first impression so do not settle for anything less than your best work, your best images, logo etc..

8. Work with great producer/writers, with a track record - it goes without saying that to get results you really need to work with those music industry people that have proven results. All too often I hear of I’ve spent ‘x’ amount of thousands with this producer and ‘x’ amount with this person (all unheard of names). It riles me as the opportunities are there for you to be had. Check out my studio and you will see that top producers are not unreachable!

9. Finance - be ready to pay and invest in yourself, nothing is free , but invest wisely. As above you cannot expect to get anywhere with people that haven’t got a history of success in the industry. You are better to pay for quality and achieve goals than to dabble with sycophants who take your money and claim success. Do your research.

10. Luck - we all need a bit of luck and the music industry is the same. Of course it helps to have contacts and finance but luck really does have its part to play. If you are looking for a recording studio London is awash with great producers and locations and you are welcome to enquire on the Powerstudio website.

Russian Boy Was Allowed To Dance In A Club During The 90s

Russian Boy Was Allowed To Dance In A Club
You might say this kid is your new spirit animal, but we're not sure anyone can aspire to be nearly this cool. Watch below as a young Russian boy breaks it down (while wearing sunglasses indoors, obviously) in what looks like footage of a Techno club in the 90s.

NYC Workers Are Clubbing On Lunch Breaks

NYC Workers Are Clubbing On Lunch Breaks
The lunchtime dance party movement began in Europe, and embodies the Old World idea of not giving a flying shit about what people think of you. NYC workers are now clubbing on lunch breaks. They all go to a place called Lunch Beat. It will cost "around what people normally spend for lunch" (last year it was $12) and include a vegetarian buffet. Attendees must follow the rules: no booze, no talking about work, just dance!

Tom Trago - Two Together

Tom Trago - Two TogetherTom Trago is back! “Two Together”, an extra large helping of the kind of loopy, feel-good deep house funk with which he made his name. Expertly teased, tweaked and produced, it sees nagging hooks, darting synths, jazz keys and disco stabs riding a relentless, full-throttle groove. Co-produced with Berlin-based Dutch producer Steffi, it’s nothing less than a wide-eyed late night rush.

NEWBODY Perform at A Club Called Rhonda

NEWBODY Perform at A Club Called Rhonda
NEWBODY brings together DJ/producer Jonathan Roshad and Detroit-bred singer-songwriter Roberto Ramone. The LA-based duo came together via MySpace due to a “mutual love of Prince and modern Funk,” and the music of NEWBODY owes much to Todd Edwards, Masters at Work, and Kerri Chandler. I'm a new fan of these guys, please check out this amazing video footage of them DJing at A Club Called Rhonda.

Music Gateway Website Launch Imminent

If you have been keeping tabs on music industry news recently it will have been hard not to notice the attention Music Gateway has received. There is much anticipation and support across the board (including an April feature in Music News) for their much needed global platform which stimulates new revenue from existing masters and makes it easy for everyone to A&R their own projects or for management and labels to tap into new talent and work their roster.

Music Gateway Launches 24th June 2013

"I'm not going to lie, it's been tough! What with the downturn in the global economy, IT development hurdles, investment seeking and a number of barriers to overcome to get the company into this position, it fills me with great pride and joy that we are now ready to fully launch. This isn't some simple brochure website or another social media platform, no, it's got focus, it's functional with purpose, it's simple yet delivers features like file transfers & electronic payments, all geared towards supporting your career development and generating work opportunities for both individuals and companies alike." explains Founder & Managing Director Jon Skinner LinkedIn. Jon spent 26 years in the Music Industry gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience from being a DJ, producer and record label owner to working closely with international artists and running his own independent record store in the '90s hay days.

Music Collaboration

"I was in a good place to bring to the table what I felt, was a much needed business platform and saw a huge gap in the market. Music Gateway was developed by my in-house IT team, not by some outsourced techies trying to second guess what the industry & musicians may want. Music Gateway connects all the creative roles, allowing them to work, get hired, paid and collaborate on the global stage." Jon goes on to explain that there are a host of websites offering a wide range of distribution, social media for music, such as Soundcloud and ReverbNation, licensing / sync portals and other Artist-to-Fan services, all of  which deal with the end recording or end user. What is clearly different about Music Gateway, is that it is strictly Business 2 Business; it provides a service for people during the creative process and a development / project stage for any recording, person or company. "Content is King" Jon states.  The Music Business isn't some sugar-coated industry, it is hard work and to be successful, you need a lot more than just talent. Music Gateway will certainly improve your chances of making the right connections and reward you financially for your hard work. Music Gateway brings the talent to your projects, an A&R vehicle designed to streamline connections in a targeted way, creating secure surroundings and empowering the individual. So whether you are one of the rising stars of the music world, or you have an established career and need a more streamlined way of collaborating with other artists, Music Gateway is your new timesaving friend.

1,200 prisoners in Peru have taken part in a massive aerobics class in an attempt to break a world record. The inmates were attempting to break the record for the most people dancing in jail.

The prisoners have been taking part in aerobics classes since they were introduced to the high-security Lurigancho prison in the capital Lima.

They performed an electronic style of dance to the beats of Moombahton.

Prisoner director Colonel Tomas Garay explained that the inmates have been given a new lease of life after the introduction of aerobics and the decision to attempt to set a world record.

http://loopsydazy.bandcamp.com/album/alalia-remixes

The Alalia Remixes EP is a collection of remixes of a Loopsy Dazy live-off-the-floor recording done in early 2011 entitled "Alalia".

Watch this original live version here:

Loopsy Dazy - Alalia RemixesThis was recorded only weeks after the plugin Stutter Edit (BT / iZotope), was released and only months after the launch of Loopsy Dazy. The plugin is used for the first time by Loopsy Dazy in the video which upon seeing, BT remarked on twitter that it was "Stunningly beautiful use of the technology". This subsequently led to Loopsy Dazy remixing a BT track for his "These Re-Imagined Machines" Box Set which was the band's debut commercial release.

The Bandcamp release includes the bonus track "Space Wave" featuring Brad Weber, drummer for Caribou.

The original version of Alalia is not on the EP. It is a free download on Loopsy Dazy's SoundCloud page: http://soundcloud.com/loopsydazy

Cool Fact: Loopsy Dazy's Biodynamic Mix is created ENTIRELY from acoustic instruments.

Kraftwerk Start Work On New Album

Kraftwerk Start Work On New Album
Kraftwerk have confirmed plans to release a new studio album.

The German electronic outfit revealed that they have started work on a ninth collection, following their critically-lauded residency at London's Tate Modern earlier this year.

"Now this is done, one to eight," band member Ralf Hütter told The Guardian. "Now we can concentrate on number nine."

Asked if fans could expect the album soon, he replied: "Oh yes. Of course. It's music nonstop!"
Hütter talked about Kraftwerk's new-found freedom to tour the world due to the evolution of technology, compared to their early days of travelling with a hefty dismantled studio.

"Nowadays basically Kraftwerk is a space lab: we can land anywhere as long as we have the projectors and the screens," he said.

Kraftwerk will play a number of European festivals this summer, including Latitude and T In The Park in the UK.
