Ibiza Is Too Expensive, Say Top DJs

Prominent DJs like Steve Angello and Paul Oakenfold have expressed their concerns about the escalating costs in Ibiza. In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, they argued that the increasing prices are diminishing the island’s “enigmatic” allure. Oakenfold remarked that he felt exploited, emphasizing that the clubs are becoming progressively more expensive.

According to him, the clubs in Ibiza are excessively fixated on catering to VIP customers. Oakenfold stated that he agreed to perform in Ibiza this year solely due to the lucrative payment offered.

Steve Angello, a member of the Swedish House Mafia, concurred with Oakenfold’s viewpoint and added that the focus has shifted towards selling tickets and booking renowned artists, resulting in Ibiza resembling other destinations without preserving its distinctive charm.

Entrance fees for the prominent “super clubs” in Ibiza can reach up to 70 euros (£55), and drinks are priced starting at 15 euros (£11.90).

Steve Hulme, the director of Pacha nightclub, defended the high prices by stating that clubs are not motivated solely by increasing charges but rather by balancing costs, and income, and ensuring a reasonable profit.
