Martone Interview 2016
Martone
is no stranger to Electro WOW music blog, he has been featured different times. The most recent post was about his new album #TEOM | The Evolution of Martone Deluxe Edition which is currently available for pre-order on iTunes. Well as the days passed, Martone is back with us this time with an exclusive interview. He reveals everything about his artistic life + many more things…

1 – When did you decide to become Martone, “The Artist”?

I seriously began thinking about becoming “The Artist” in 2004, while performing in local LGBT clubs in Detroit such as the Male Box. But it really did not take root until my father passed away in August 2013 that event, really lit the fire in me. It showed me that life is too short not to be doing what you were born to do.

2 – Where do you draw inspiration for your sound? Is it more based off personal experiences or based off influences by other artists?

I draw my inspiration from love and other life experiences. With that said, I am heavily influenced by dance icons such as Janet, Michael and Madonna. I truly believe that all of their influences can be heard throughout the entire album.

3 – What kind of energy do you try to bring to your live shows?

It’s festive. The energy I bring is a high energy dance extravaganza in which I require audience participation.

4 – Where is your next live show taking place?

Actually, full blown rehearsals will be taking place in about 10 days. We will be perfecting and changing some of the routines. I do have hopes to have a multi-city tour in the fall with Pride events, and nightclubs.

5 – Where were you when you heard you were nominated for a Grammy? Have things changed after this event?

I am laughing right now because I just applied to become a voting member of the academy. But, from your lips to God’s ears that I pray this too shall soon become a reality.

6 – What’s the name of your current single and how was your songwriting process?

The current single is “Groove Tonight”, and “Love You I Do (Auoo)” is the B-side. It was fairly easy writing the lyrics for these songs especially “Love You I Do (Auoo)” because the track itself spoke to me in a way that this is what you should be singing. “Groove Tonight”, was totally different, I wrote and sang it without and backup tracks and then producer Duce created the beat around my vocals.

7 – Which song of your latest album is the strongest? Where can we download it?

I wholeheartedly believe that all of the songs on the album are strong. But critics, DJs and Fans often choose “Groove Tonight” whether it’s the DJ Extreme verison or the album version produced by Duce. Everyone tells me that “Groove Tonight” is a bonafide hit for radio, the clubs and your mobile devices so, I would have to agree with them. You can download the singles on iTunes, CD Baby and Traxsource.

8 – What’s the secret to be several times on the Billboard Music Charts?

Again, from your lips to God’s ears appearing on the Billboad Music Charts will too become a reality soon.

9 – Who would you love to sing with? Why?

Janet of course. Mainly because lyrically we sing about the same things which is love. I can see us doing a really hot dance tune together because she is the ultimate performer I would definitely have to step up my game 200%. There are others such as Rihanna, Beyonce and David Guetta.

10 – What’s your fave thing to do when you’re not working?

Spending time with my husband, we both work really hard in our careers so when we have that free time we get together with friends and extended family cracking jokes, cooking meals, going to the movies, go-kart racing. I like to have fun in everything that I do.
