I am not Nostradamus, however, I am always right when I have to predict the future of music. On previous occasions, I have talked about top music trends and rarely I have made mistakes. So, let’s see if these predictions will become a reality in 2018. Let me know your thoughts too.
Virtual Reality in music festivals and music videos
Perhaps this is why many companies are now investing in this great technology. Virtual reality will be fundamental at music festivals because it offers the viewers a brand new way to experiment the music performance of their favorite DJs. Festival organizers such as Coachella and Lollapalooza already love this concept, but the rest of the festivals are not left behind in 2018. There will be also a new audiovisual format on YouTube so that people can wear their virtual reality glasses in order to watch music videos in a completely different way. This already exists but the current method will be improved and perfected.
Last year I say there will be an increase of young producers who’ll make Future Bass and Future House music on large scale. Well, now the new thing on the charts is called Synthwave music. More and more people will be interested in this genre by next year. It is characterized by retro movie soundtracks and video games from the 80s. The futuristic era of music makes a return. Below you can listen to a good example of a Synthwave song.
The end of SoundCloud + Spotify dominates the music streaming industry
Okay people let’s move on to Spotify. SoundCloud will no longer exist or it will be sold anytime soon. Spotify will be more friendly with DJs and electronic music producers, So, in 2018 they will allow us to upload our full-length DJ mixes without problems. Today and in the future people will prefer to use their mobile phones in order to stream music, so I don’t think downloading music will be possible on Spotify in 2018. Who knows, maybe they could launch new technologies that will improve the audio quality.
