Firing out of Quality Goods Records today is the breath-taking new collaboration from Yvng Jalapeno and Ian Munro, “I Don’t Need You.” Featuring sweetly mesmerising vocals from Cultra, the release will consist of the original, as well as an instrumental and Accapella version.
Australian producer Yvng Jalapeno has a strongly unique sound that encompasses a wealth of different musical styles, and his tracks are always full of technical dynamite. Having supported the likes of marshmello and Getter last year alongside his own tour, 2017 has seen him release plenty of original material.
The unstoppable young Ian Munro has also had a seriously notable few months; dropping an EP for UZ’s QGR that featured a Billboard Top 10 Spotify Viral single last year and releasing a slew of official remixes in 2017, including one of Mt. Eden’s classic ‘Sierra Leone’ for Ultra Music, which was supported by the likes of UZ and Hardwell.
Together the duo has made a truly soulful sound with the pop-leaning trap cut ‘I Don’t Need You.’ Searching vocals and memorable lyrics play a huge part in this brooding tune, which builds and falls with heavy abandon. Jostling, disjointed rhythms, suspended drum licks and syncopated melodies work with sublime ease alongside additional, pitched tones and melodic flow.
