10 Things You Didn’t Know About DJ Oggy

Following the announcement of his newest remix for MØ’s popular song “Drum”, I wanted to discover more about DJ Oggy. It was a short interview, the talented Japanese DJ likes clarity and he goes straight to the point when answering to my questions. The whole dialogue is worth a read!

1 – Where were you born and where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Japan. When I was 22 years old, I moved to Los Angeles to expand my DJ career in 2002.

2 – How does music influence your life?

Dance Music makes my day 100% every time. Even though I have a tough day, I listen to some good dance music and driving around the city, I feel good. After I straight run to my lab to work on some productions.

3 – What do you enjoy the most about your artistic career, producing a new song or remixing an existing one?

I always like making remixes. Especially for my DJ set. That’s the best feeling playing my remixes in front of crowds and getting crazy together. They can take me to another level. I still believe that crowds make DJs better at mixing as a live performance.

4 – What are the parts of the song that you wanted to emphasize on your latest remix for MØ?

I love the original a lot so I just wanted to give different vibes. I got tropical sounds but still, people can dance with it. I’m very glad to making this remix.

5 – How many days did it take you to produce this remix?

It took me about a week.

6 – Do you work all alone or there’s a group of collaborators behind your music project?

I have a partner working with me. We call ourselves “Tokyo MO Beats”. We will have our first EP coming out soon… Keep in your mind “Tokyo MO Beats”!!!

7 – What’s the most valuable item in your music studio?

Ableton Live and Massive plug-in… If I can use these, I am happy to work.

8 – How many songs and remixes would you like to release this year?

I am working few different projects now, hopefully, I can release everything which probably is about 20 songs.

9 – How well does it feel to be a Resident DJ at The Mayan? How long is your DJ set?

I love spinning at The Mayan. We have the best sound systems and lighting. I mix visuals also. I do VDJ there. And then, I have one more DJ who works with. We split our time from 9p-2a.

10 – Where can we stream and download your music?

Go to my socials I have everything there. Hope, I will seeyou soon!
