Originating in Europe, the trend of lunchtime dance parties reflects the European mindset of not caring about public opinion. In New York City, the Lunch Beat movement has caught on with working professionals who spend their lunch breaks at a designated venue where they can dance and have fun.

Attendees pay a price that is usually similar to what they would spend on lunch, which was around $12 last year and includes a vegetarian buffet. The only rules for participants are that they cannot consume alcohol, talk about work, or do anything other than dance. The movement has gained a lot of popularity among the working population, as it provides a much-needed break from the monotony of work and allows people to have some fun during their lunch hour.
