Hercules & Love Affair again prove their dexterity on their third album, ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’. After the jacking Disco of their 2008 debut came the more experimental 2011 Blue Songs. Following yet another change in band personnel, Hercules & Love Affair have changed stance again, this time with a House sound that is direct and uncompromising.
The band, led by NYC producer Andy Butler, take up a tougher, harder-edged sound than we have heard before with ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’. There is a distinct old-school House vibe running throughout, complete with firing synths, rough basslines and nasty sounding beats. There is an aggression to the music, which at times verges on Techno, but the band still manage to load the songs with plenty of emotion via some stellar vocal performances from the likes of John Grant and Krystle Warren.
The Pop structures that play a big role in the album ensure the record hasn’t turned out as a collection of functional club bombs too. It feels like an expression of modern electronic music that encapsulates the intense emotions that one feels when connected with that music in a club.
And this could possibly be the best album of 2014 in my own personal opinion.

Cityzen Drops Underground-Inspired “Rave Tech Repeat”, Out Now On CYB3RPVNK
After debuting on R3HAB’s CYB3RPVNK with “Sirius,” Cityzen is back with his second single “Rave Tech Repeat”, a meticulously crafted dancefloor killer with a heavy underground appeal. With its kick-drum driven basslines, snarling synths and funky melodies, “Rave Tech Repeat” draws inspiration from the darker and more covert genres of electronic music such as techno and tech-house. With his ability to bend time and subsequently exist both in the past and the present, Cityzen has once again proved his ability to craft a sound that is both a timeless nod to classic sounds and a unique vision of the future for dance music. Although we’re no closer to figuring out exactly who or what Cityzen truly is, he continues to impress and inspire with each new release. Keep an eye out for the next drop from CYB3RPVNK’s family member, and perhaps the most intriguing one yet!
Although not much is known about Cityzen yet, we can be extremely positive about three noticeable attributes: his affinity for the color red, unique glasses, and his desire to give people the intense beats that one would imagine hearing on the metallic streets of a futuristic metropolitan. Perhaps Cityzen can live in the past and the future at the same time, giving him the ability to merge vintage hardware like Moog synthesizers with futuristic house rhythms of the modern age. If “Sirius” is any indication, Cityzen is on the verge of something huge and previously unimagined, and all the world can do is wait. Armed with his sparkling glasses and affinity for the color red, Cityzen brings to life a crossover of old and new that will become the unique sound of the next generation.

Tommy Jayden’s New Single “Level Up” Will Make You Feel Like You’re In A 90s Video Game
Tommy Jayden made his debut on CYB3RPVNK back in May when he teamed up with Skytech for “Looking at Me,” and now he’s back with his nostalgic first solo single “Level Up”. Jayden combines energetic electro elements and big-room progressive appeal with chiptune effects to make “Level Up” elicit classic ’90s arcade game memories, which will bring many a listener back to their childhoods. Let this track take you back to bashing Koopa Troopas in Super Mario Bros in pursuit of that next level – except this time, you can reach it on the dance floor. “Level Up” follows Jayden’s recent releases “Gin & Vodka” on Spinnin’ and “Switch” on Revealed Records.
In 2018, R3HAB founded his label CYB3RPVNK, a place that embraces the alternative, pushes artistic boundaries, and serves as a platform to build up new artists. The imprint is current home to R3HAB himself and a strong roster of artists now including Tommy Jayden, the newcomer who is making waves with his dynamic and energetic sound. Jayden knew he was meant for music at the age of 8 when he fell in love listening to his parents’ Michael Jackson CDs. Eventually, his interests shifted to house music, and after studying at the iconic Herman Brood Academy, he has been steadily building his repertoire. Jayden’s releases include an official remix of R3HAB & Conor Maynard’s “Hold On Tight” and Kygo & Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me” and his hit “Infected,” which has amassed over 1.2M streams on Spotify. Now that he has found a home on CYB3RPVNK and made a bold solo move with “Level Up,” we can’t wait to see what’s next from this promising up and comer!

SkylightZ Deliver Top Quality House Music With “Head Over Heels” — LISTEN
At present, the artistic industry seems very competitive, and it’s not easy to find top quality House music. However, SkylightZ, a fresh duo from New Castle, Pennsylvania, has the golden formula to make you dance. Their new production, “Head Over Heels”, features some hypnotic vocals from the talented Holly Drummond. The funny thing is that the more you listen to it, the more you fall in love with. Also, the magic is done with those synth-driven electronic beats that repeat over and over again. “Head Over Heels” is an insanely catchy tune that works best at clubs or festivals. Beyond doubt, it is a fact this will get you out of your seat!

Sebastian Park Goes Funky House With Latest Hit, “Astro Boogie”
Disco Fries’ imprint Liftoff Recordings welcomes Sebastian Park‘s Funky House hit “Astro Boogie”. The plays on his SoundCloud account keep growing and growing. “Astro Boogie” sees the New York-based Producer laying down on a groovy melody that is 100% addictive. Besides, the soulful diva vocals work as the biggest charm in my opinion. I would even describe it as uplifting and functional. Without a doubt, this is what I call a true club banger. At the end of the day, who doesn’t need Disco vibes all day and night?… Naturally, this was made for you!

Habstrakt And Bellecour Collaborate For Housey Track “Lasagne” On Monstercat
French artist Habstrakt teamed up with up-and-coming duo Bellecour for his latest release “Lasagne”, but this track is not your average Italian takeout. Delivering energetic kick drums with an electro house-influenced tempo and gritty basslines, “Lasagne” is a dancefloor-friendly, energetic and funky fusion track that is sure to light up dancefloors around the world. Out now on the cutting-edge Monstercat, “Lasagne” is Habstrakt’s sixth single of 2019 and follows his “De la Street” single on NGHTMRE & SLANDER’s Gud Vibrations label released last month. Bellecour makes their debut on Monstercat with the new track, after having collaborated with Marshmello on “Set Me Free.”
Before he sets his sights onto DJing and producing, Habstrakt began his journey into music as a guitar and keys player. In 2008, Habstrakt discovered dubstep and drum & bass, which would be his first loves in the electronic sphere. Though his sound is continuously evolving, his instrumental training is evident in the French artist’s precise and yet malleable sound, which distinguishes itself through a sophisticated production style that still sounds raw and urban. 2019 has been a huge year for Habstrakt so far, with releases including “Infinite,” his debut on Monstercat, Tchami’s Confession, “All Night” on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom and “Darkness” on Spinnin’ Records. Now serving us up some freshly cooked “Lasagne,” Habstrakt shows us he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
