The latest member of the Protocol Recordings family is an Italian producer by the name of Dr. Shiver, and he delivers on his namesake with his new release “Something.” Dr. Shiver showcases his ability to bring together nostalgic and modern influences on “Something,” which features soulful vocals by Kazi. With its funky guitar riffs and complex melodies paired with vocals that sound straight from a blues club, we promise you’ve never heard anything quite like this before. Dr. Shiver teamed up with some very talented musicians to give “Something” its authentic, raw sound. As a master sound engineer, Dr. Shiver meticulously crafted “Something” to sound unplugged and vintage, as if the track could be played live instead of electronically created. “This track really represents every one of my artistic sides,” says Dr. Shiver. “As a pianist and hammond player my origins are based in the blues, funky, soul and black music and in this tune you can really feel my musical background in every note, melody and chord progression.” With the addition of Dr. Shiver to its already-diverse roster, Protocol Recordings continues to expand its imprint and explore new sounds, keeping the label at the forefront of cutting-edge music.

Bruno Carlo Oggioni, better known as Dr. Shiver, is a man of many talents who wears many hats. His titles include producer, musician, sound engineer, DJ, label manager and record studio owner. Dr. Shiver’s focus wasn’t always on electronic music, however: he began his career in the classical spectrum, playing piano and hammond, where he worked with legendary musicians like BB King, Pharrell Williams, Little Louie Vega and more before turning his sights to conquering the dance music scene. In 2015, he released his first official remix for “You Got the Love” with the Candi Staton’s original vocal from 1986. Dr. Shiver’s remix soared to the Number Five on the UK pop chart and was used as the soundtrack to the Tomorrowworld aftermovie. With support from the likes of Nicky Romero, Benny Bennassi, Tiesto, David Guetta, Don Diablo and more industry heavyweights, he will continue to make waves as a member of Protocol Recordings. Dr. Shiver will be playing at the Protocol showcase during the Amsterdam Dance Event on October 18th, so don’t miss his one-of-a-kind live performance if you’re attending ADE!

:tim Releases Studio 54-Inspired Music Video “Loveparty International”
Fronted by a fascinating funky beat, “Loveparty International” by :tim is the sexiest song he has ever produced. Considering that fact, the music video draws inspiration from Studio 54. As most of you know, the legendary club was a synonym with glitter, lust, eccentricity, and glamour. Clearly, all these visual elements seem to come straight from the late 70s. Moreover, this steamy jam features an electro/groovy bass to convince listeners they can get wild with it. In simple words, just let yourself loose and dance!
Even though “Loveparty International” is out on August 26th, the Berlin-based Producer shares with us details about his upcoming album, ‘Muscheln’ (translated as seashells). So far we know these tunes were originally written for his former project A.M.T. A trio known for their surreal humor and a crude music style. Consequently, his improvised melodies from the past took shape in the last four years and they will be available in this new record.
On a side note, Tim, together with Funkarella and Joe Mexicano, plan to organize the party series Starwalk, which celebrates the joy of improvised funk. Stay tuned for more information on his socials below.

Half An Orange Debut The Newest Concept Track “Sunscreen” From Upcoming EP
Everyone’s favorite astronauts, Half an Orange, are back with the first single “Sunscreen” from their upcoming EP “Mostly We Grow Pt.2.” The duo delivers their unique style and meaningful songwriting through organic instrumental melodies, breezy soundscapes and positive lyrics like “I’m running out of karma, I don’t think I’ll make it much longer, but with you, by my side, I feel stronger.” At its core, “Sunscreen” is about the feeling of security and positivity from a high school love, likening that person to sunscreen because they blocked out all the negative parts of teenage life. Like its namesake, the track seems made for the long, balmy and easygoing days of summers spent with good company, setting the tone for Half an Orange’s full EP. The track’s accompanying video is bound to be just as vibrant and otherworldly as we have come to expect from this ultra-creative duo. “Sunscreen” follows Half an Orange’s 2018 EP “Mostly We Grow “and their single “Old Friends,” which gained incredible popularity when gamer Ninja debuted it on his Twitch channel and eventually starred in the music video.
Andrew Spellman and Michael Maloof got the idea for the name “Half an Orange” from a Portuguese expression that Michael learned while living on a beach in Brazil for a year. Meaning that everyone is half of something and looking for the person, thing or purpose that completes them, Half an Orange truly comes alive through the duo’s fusion of instrumental and electronic elements coupled with emotive vocals and poignant lyrics. The Ohio natives stand out from the crowd by animating and illustrating all their own music videos, all of which feature orange-helmed astronauts as an expression of feeling lost and alone in an overwhelming world. Their music videos for “Old Friends,” “End of the Moon” and “Buzz Lightyear” have won awards at the New Media Film Festival in LA, Columbus International Film & Animation Festival, Short. Sweet. Film Fest, NYC Independent Film Festival, and more. After gaining significant traction with their first “Mostly We Grow” EP, we can’t wait to experience the rest of the “Pt. 2” EP coming soon. Keep an eye out for Half an Orange’s adventures.
