Quickfire Interview With: DJ Extreme Detroit

DJ Extreme Detroit

Marvin Hairston aka DJ Extreme Detroit has been active in the music industry since the late 80s. That said, no one can’t deny he knows the real meaning of Detroit Techno based on the years of experience. Recently, he puts his hands on Clayton Morgan’s “The Beat Is Calling Me”, with a 🔥 HOT remix that will be released worldwide via Enotram Entertainment on December 14th. (Pre-Order Here)

In the following interview, you’ll learn more about the artist and his music. Happy reading!

1 – You’ve been DJing and producing since…

I’ve been DJing about 25+ years. I started in the prime years of breakdancing. Although Techno was my influence back then. Music production came into play, in the early 2000s.

2 – You got involved in the music realm because…

Involvement with the music realm is a big step for me! I am humble about my talents. This is something I wanted to share with my peers, community, if not the world. It’s a good thing to be able to share your talent, make people feel good, and even be appreciated.

3 – Your sound is…

I define my sound as upbeat, groovy, and VERY rythmatic! My goal is to make or play music that’s perfect for “peak time” in the clubs and bars. Groovy and bumpy!

4 – Your biggest inspiration is…

My biggest inspiration would be none other than, the legendary and late Detroit DJ Ken Collier! Not only what he played and how he played was quite inspiring. He was also great at guidance, as he never sugar-coated anything.

5 – Fans should listen to your music because

Well, the simple fact is that it is uplifting, inspirational, and makes you want to dance. Whether you’re tapping your feet in the coffee shop, drumming the steering wheel in a traffic jam, or at the club cutting the rug. My music is to inspire and move you!

6 – If you want to know who DJ Extreme Detroit is, listen to the track…

That track would be Clayton Morgan – “The Beat Is Calling Me”. I went up and over my boundaries of how I make music on this track. It is the follow-up track, after going number one on the Canada iTunes charts. The track is filled with punches, to keep the consistency of reaching number one again. Thus, making this track a good “first appearance” of myself.

7 –Your most memorable career moment so far has been…

I have quite a few moments that have happened throughout the years of my career, that I hold to heart. But recently, going number one on the iTunes chart with Clayton Morgan and his track “Taste For Love”. His vocal talents need no introduction, as it’s quite obvious!! But has taken me to new heights to top the charts with him!

8 – Your dream is…

I have always had a dream of traveling to the U.K. where Deep House and Garage House is alive and vibrant. Their support for the music and culture is phenomenal. To be a part of that would most certainly put a check mark on my bucket list!

9 – What makes different your remix of “The Beat Is Calling Me” to the original?

My remix is rather soulful with a touch of smoothness. But still, keep my style of Deep House. Which is my goal. Remixing gives a track opportunity of entering different genres and satisfying more listeners. But yes, smooth and soulful is what will make difference to the original version of “The Beat Is Calling Me”.

10 – What’s the best thing about being part of Enotram Entertainment?

Being a part of Enotram Entertainment is belonging to a family. It’s great to work on different projects with everyone. Everyone has the same goal of sharing their talents and getting it out for the world to see. With the CEO Martone overseeing everything, he makes sure things are done professionally. Which makes Enotram Entertainment that much better!

11 – Your all-time favorite club/venue is…

Almost anyone in the Detroit area, that was into the club scene back in the day, will tell you Club Heaven was the place to be. It was then run by the late legendary Detroit DJ Ken Collier. Astounding music, colossal sound system, and sweating from a dance workout after every visit was not rare.

12 – If you weren’t a DJ and producer you’d probably be…

That is a tough question here. I would have taken the path in Auto Engineering. Designing cars, or even designing special editions. I do have an interest in cars, which naturally comes second to music for me.

13 – You’ll only stop making music if…

There would be only one way that I would stop making music. That would be if music becomes obsolete. Music is my life! Music is also an influence on many things that go on in my daily life!

14 – In a few years, you want to be…

Sitting back with more experience under my belt. Meeting more people in the industry, that have more experience than I, and learning from them is always a great thing also.

15 — What are you doing for the rest of the day?

I have three projects in production that I must complete, two which are time sensitive. But I must say, that this interview was a great break, from it all.
