There’s something hypnotic and captivating about Thamatic‘s new single “After School”. Perhaps, the dark Electro-Pop melody that rings in the background has something to do with it. While to others it is the unique vocal delivery which results catchy. What is certain is that you’ve got to love a tune that includes good percussion, plus frenetic drum patterns, and even Hip-Hop chants in the last chorus.
If I’m not mistaken, I think these creative guys from Chicago took a new music direction for the very first time with “After School”. Tending toward synth textures rather than their traditional acoustic-based sound. In that respect, the outcome is pretty satisfactory in my opinion. On a side note, Thamatic is heading to Fullerton Studios tomorrow to record the last Rock songs for their upcoming album titled, ‘The Final Album’. Let’s all keep an eye on them for more gems like this on their socials below.

Alex & Tokyo Rose Release Brand New Single “Affliction” Via NRW Records
NRW Records bring hope to New Wave/Synthwave/Electro-Pop artists out there. Most of the label’s releases have been featured on Netflix movies and TV shows. For instance, Death Note, Family Guy, and the latest Godzilla franchise have praised their music catalog. Nowadays, it seems this electronic music genre influenced by the 80s films is on everyone’s lips.
The label’s latest project is entitled ‘Akuma II’ by Alex & Tokyo. The nostalgic approach of the first single “Affliction” is evident due to the use of retro synthesizers + analog effects. With dark tones, this is a tune that could perfectly work in any science fiction drama. On a side note, the album itself charted at #5 on Billboard’s Electronic Album Chart. In my opinion, a well-deserved position for both, the artists and NewRetroWave Records. Stream in full below.

The famous 405 freeway in California inspired Charles Goose to create a jam with warm melodies.
