5 Surefire Tips To Buy The Perfect Wine Refrigerator

5 Surefire Tips To Buy The Perfect Wine Refrigerator
If you are a wine enthusiast, then you should definitely consider getting a dedicated wine fridge. Not only will it be easier to store all your favorite wines at one single location, but you can also show off your collection to others in an easy, yet impactful manner. And if you are searching for a perfect wine cooler for your home, then the below tips will help you make the right choice.

Fridge Capacity
One of the first things to look for is the capacity of the fridge. And this will mainly depend on your wine consumption habits. If you are a casual drinker, then a wine cooler with a capacity of holding about 6 to 10 bottles will be sufficient. However, if you are a collector and plan to store different types of wine for long periods of time, then you may be better off looking for models which can hold 200 wine bottles or more. As a rule of thumb, you should purchase a wine fridge that is bigger than what you want. This will ensure that you can store some extra bottles in case you plan on having a large number of guests in your home.

Humidity Regulation
Ideally, you should store wine with humidity levels around 60% to 70%. If the environment is too dry, then the cork can crack and allow outside air into the bottle, thereby spoiling the wine. And if there is too much humidity, then there is a good chance that mold might develop on the cork, which can eventually enter the bottle and again end up damaging the wine. As such, ensure that the wine cooler you are buying will have a humidity controller that allows you to easily set the humidity levels between 60% and 70%.

Compressor Vs Thermoelectric
You will also have to decide between a compressor and thermoelectric cooler. While a compressor fridge will produce better cooling, the thermoelectric cooler will run more efficiently, with less vibration and noise.

Temperature Settings
Check the temperature setting of the wine cooler and make sure that it does cover a wide range of temperatures. And if you have to choose between a digital or mechanical control for the settings, then always choose the digital option since temperatures can be more accurately and easily controlled by digital controls rather than the mechanical ones.

Door Insulation
Almost all wine coolers come with glass doors. While this enables you to quickly check the bottles inside the fridge, it also allows you to show your wine collection to your guests without having to open the cooler. However, glass doors have one big problem – they transfer heat from the outside into the fridge. And this can eventually affect the cool temperature inside. To avoid such issues, it is recommended that you only buy a wine cooler with a tinted glass door that can act as an insulation and block the heat from entering the fridge.
