Adam Lambert channels Y2K nostalgia by reinterpreting ATC’s “Around the World (La La La La La).” The Eurodance classic serves as the inspiration for this fresh Electro-Pop single titled “UNDER THE RHYTHM,” which is part of the singer’s upcoming album ‘ADAM.’
Set against a somewhat dark backdrop, Lambert shines alongside his dancers in a synchronized group choreography. The location where this music video was filmed feels a bit eerie, appearing to be an old asylum.
However, don’t let that fool you, “UNDER THE RHYTHM” is incredibly catchy and fun!
Sampling vs. Interpolation: The Quick Breakdown
While you might hear people say he sampled ATC’s “Around the World (La La La La La),” he actually did something called an interpolation.
In the music world, sampling means taking the literal, original audio file and copying it directly into a new song. Interpolation is different because the artist recreates, re-plays, or re-sings that famous melody completely from scratch instead of lifting the original master recording.
In other words, Lambert went into the studio and sang that iconic “la la la la la” hook himself. Doing it this way gives him the ultimate creative freedom to change the pitch, warp the vibe, and make it fit flawlessly into his own sound.
Besides that, it is worth mentioning that the lyrics to “UNDER THE RHYTHM” are original, unlike Jessica Audiffred’s release last year, which was a straight cover packed with Dubstep elements.

Moreover, I love how it masterfully guides you out of a sad headspace and pushes you to move forward. Definitely, it is an anthem packed with pure optimism and custom-made for the nightlife.

The gigs kick off on release day in Los Angeles and will make stops across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and London, before finally wrapping up on July 23 in Berlin, Germany.
