Jacob Colon Take It
Jacob Colon
has kept busy in a constant release of top-quality hits that showcase his innate talent and distinctive vibe. While releasing songs back-to-back and curating mixes for his radio show ‘Made To Move’, Jacob sat down with us to talk us through the behind-the-scenes process of his latest release “Take It, a percussive driven track that will instantly make you move. This is what Jacob Colon had to say about the process of working on the song.

1 — Hello Jacob, how are you?

I’ve been focusing on building my catalog lately. You’ll hear some dope tracks cooking in the near future.

2 — Can you tell us more about the production process of ‘Take It’? How did the production start?

I started with a Trap sample with a BPM at 140. I was really feeling the aggressiveness on the sound, so I did some editing and made it fit with the percussion I had going on. That became the building block and foundation of the song, so from there I created the melodies, added vocals, and so on. It really came together after I found the sound used on the drop that follows the chords.

3 — How long did it take you to finish the track?

About a week or two.

4 — How did the song evolve from the first to the last working session?

The first session for me is always about the drums and creating the rhythm of how the song will feel. But after I get a really solid groove and bass flowing, the melodies and chords come through trial and error, so at times, I had to take a few breaks, LOL.

5 — What are some of the influences of the track?

This track has a lot of elements influenced by various genres of music like Deep House, Trap, Tribal, and RnB.

6 — Did you discover something new about your own processes while working on “Take It”?

I always learn something new. Sometimes it’s a mixing thing or finding a new sound for another idea later.

7 — How would you describe the track to someone who hasn’t listened to it yet?

Upbeat percussive groove with a deep atmospheric vibe.

8 — What are your plans for the summer?

I’ve been building my catalog and will have some great releases this summer.

9 — Are you releasing new music soon?

Always.

10 — Where can we find ‘Take It’?

All audio platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, etc.
