A week after marking their one-year anniversary on March 6 with homemade cake and bling for her (a heart-shaped locket with the date 3.6.2015 engraved into it), Taylor Swift, 26, and her boyfriend, DJ/Producer Calvin Harris, 32, celebrated their love with a picture-perfect trip to the Caribbean. “That time when we finally took a vacation,” Swift captioned a video from paradise, then followed up with a snap of a sexy beach kiss.
A little rest and relaxation was much needed for the pair, who last year balanced their blossoming romance with Swift’s packed touring schedule for her 1989 album and Harris’s lucrative, three-year deal to spin at the Omnia nightclub at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. “When she was on tour, he really missed her,” says a Harris source. “It’s not easy to combine a busy career with a relationship, but they seem to have figured it out.
They are both very solid people.” While Swift brought her best pal Selena Gomez as her date to the Grammy Awards (where she took home Album of the Year) in February, Harris joined them later that night to celebrate; and on March 18 she flew to Vegas with her girlfriends and younger brother Austin to watch him perform. “Calvin gushes about how proud he is of Taylor,” says the Harris source. “He is very supportive of her career and he appreciates how supportive she is of his.” And after her two- year break from the dating scene, it couldn’t have been easy for Harris to win Swift over.
Clearly Harris has proved he’s not just anybody. He’s at ease with her family (“He spends a lot of time with them, and they love having Calvin around,” says a Swift insider) and cool with her crew, respecting her need to hang with pals such as Serayah, Lorde and Karlie Kloss. “They all like him and there’s no drama,” says another pal. Most important, they are enjoying the ride. “They love each other, but aren’t the type of people to rush down the altar,” says the Harris source. Adds the Swift insider: “They really seem happier than ever.”
IN SHORT WORDS…WHO IS CALVIN HARRIS?
Back home in Dumfries, Scotland, the man born Adam Richard Wiles wasn’t driven to seek fame. But the youngest of three kids born to David, a biochemist, and Pamela, a homemaker, had a talent for making electronic dance music. “I’m not good at interviews,” he told the Independent after being discovered on MySpace. “I’m not good at dancing. I never will be.” Producing Rihanna’s 2011 hit “We Found Love” made Harris a star—and he’s since worked with Swift’s pals HAIM and Ellie Goulding. Along the way, he’s gone from shy and skinny to sculpted and (very) successful—he’s now an Emporio Armani spokesmodel with a Las Vegas club residency, and he’s not hurting for cash: In 2015, he made $66 million.
