The mysterious artist known as Cityzen just dropped an equally-curiously named new track, “Unicorns on a Rocket Launcher”, on R3HAB’s CYB3RPVNK imprint. After the first listen, you’ll quickly realize how suiting the title is: with bouncy, driving basslines, UK-garage and g-house influences coupled with a catchy vocal riff, one can almost imagine explosions of technicolor sparkles going off during its undulating drops. “Unicorns on a Rocket Launcher” is perhaps Cityzen’s most festival and club-ready track to date. It follows his prior releases “Sirius” and “Rave Tech Repeat,” released this year on CYB3RPVNK, which was the first place this time-bending artist appeared to anchor himself in this dimension. Cityzen seems to always keep the world guessing as to his next move, so stay tuned to find out what he comes up with next.
Although not much is known about Cityzen yet, we can be extremely positive about three noticeable attributes: his affinity for the color red, unique glasses, and his desire to give people the intense beats that one would imagine hearing on the metallic streets of a futuristic metropolitan. Perhaps Cityzen can live in the past and the future at the same time, giving him the ability to merge vintage hardware like Moog synthesizers with futuristic house rhythms of the modern age. His sound continues to evolve with every newly released track, and is “Unicorns on a Rocket Launcher” is any indication, Cityzen is on the verge of something huge and previously unimagined–and all the world can do is wait. Armed with his sparkling glasses and affinity for the color red, Cityzen brings to life a crossover of old and new that will become the unique sound of the next generation.

His artistic prowess comes to life through the three brand new tracks, which all share the same electro and tech-house influenced sound but have entirely unique vibes. The EP opens with “Make It Better,” a groovy future house-inspired tune reminiscent of ZHU’s addicting sound. Kaskade & BROHUG Channel SNAP!’s Iconic “The Power” Into New Song
Kaskade joins forces with the Swedish trio BROHUG (composed of John Dahlbäck, and Chris and Niklas Lunde) for perhaps the most prolific throwback single in electronic music to date, a tribute to one of the most significant years in music – “1990”. The namesake-titled track is a play on SNAP!’s iconic “The Power,” reworked with snippets of the original vocals set to Kaskade and BROHUG’s ingenious production. Opening with a groovy melody as the backdrop to nostalgia-ridden lyrical riffs, “1990” progressively builds the tension to almost unbearable levels. We all know the moments just before a track of this magnitude drops, and the pressure is real right before the bouncy and driving crescendo, on which every old school fan’s favorite line, “I’ve Got the Power!” rides perfectly. “1990” is out on Kaskade’s Arkade imprint. Hear about the new release in the artists’ own words below.
“1990 was an incredible year for music. You couldn’t go into a club, pizzeria, or record store without hearing the iconic song by SNAP! “The Power,” and here we are in 2020 with it still buzzing in the zeitgeist. ‘1990’ is only to be played on the loudest of speakers, and has got the power to stay stuck in your head long after hearing it.” – Kaskade & BROHUG
As a household name in electronic music for nearly two decades, Kaskade needs no introduction. His list of achievements is a mile long: 11 studio albums, 7 GRAMMY nominations, the first solo electronic dance artist to sell out both Navy Pier in Chicago and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the first DJ to ever secure a Las Vegas residency, and the first electronic artist to headline Coachella. Less tangible but even more important has been his influence on dance music tastes and culture for generations of listeners. Often Kaskade is one of the artists who introduced now-veteran listeners to the genre, and such fans are usually fans for life. In 2019, he worked with multi-award winner Meghan Trainor on “With You” and Gorgon City on “Go Slow,” among solo releases, such as “My Light,” “Come On,” and official remixes for the likes of Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani earlier.
Regardless of their satirical stage name, BROHUG is not here to play games. Since John Dahlbäck and the Lunde brothers formed BROHUG in 2016, the trio has worked with Ghastly, remixed Steve Angello, and released on labels such as Confession, Spinnin’ Records, Dim Mak, Musical Freedom, and their new label BROHOUSE. In 2019, their release schedule was packed with relentless hit after hit. Virtually unrivaled, their touring has been intense since the start, and 2020 will be no exception. BROHUG has really put their name out, with sets on festivals like Ultra Music Festival in Miami and Tomorrowland in Belgium, touring Australia and several tours in the US and Asia. A new decade brings with it new possibilities, so stay tuned to hear more from Kaskade and BROHUG coming soon.

Anthony Kalabretta’s Emotive House Tune, “Terracotta”, Off Upcoming EP
Physical Presents welcomes its newest artist Anthony Kalabretta with his debut track “Terracotta”, from forthcoming EP. We’re introduced to Kalabretta’s melodic house signature sound with dreamy toplines over gently rolling bass, complemented by soulful vocals that call to mind the style of Rüfüs Du Sol, Amtrac and Disclosure. His sophisticated sound shaping is the result of years of behind-the-scenes work as a recording engineer, producer, and songwriter with well-known artists such as DVBBS, Protest the Hero, Silverstein, and Abandon All Ships as well as Veronica and Vanrip. All of this practice truly shines on “Terracotta,” where Kalabretta artfully evokes tender emotions while still maintaining the track’s dancefloor-friendly vibe. Press play on this tune any time you need some easy listening.
Canadian artist Anthony Kalabretta is no stranger to the music industry, where he’s been working since the young age of fifteen. After years of cutting his teeth at some of Toronto’s most prominent studios as a music engineer, Kalabretta embarked on his own musical journey in 2016 with his first independent release – “Basic.” His music has always defied genre boundaries, though he cites some of his influences as Justice, Caribou, MGMT, The Strokes, and Mac Demarco. As a complement to his music, Kalabretta is also accomplished in video production abilities and film scoring; he has worked on projects with actors and directors such as Chad Peter (“Mr. Robot”), Giacomo Gianniotti (“Greys Anatomy”), and Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”). With such a robust array of talent, we’re excited to see what Anthony Kalabretta has in store for 2020.

Following his highly anticipated ‘House Party’ EP from last year, Valentino Khan is back with a star-studded remix version of the release. The first interpretation of Valentino’s original work comes from the future house pioneer Tchami himself, who brings his signature sound to Khan and Diplo’s “JustYourSoul.” Trading heavy bass for groovy melodies and bouncy breakdowns, Tchami delivers a remix that will set the late night club dance floors on fire. The full remix EP, set for a release on January 24, includes additional guest appearances, that will be revealed in the following weeks, running the gamut from funky house to electro and bass. Stay tuned for the rest of the releases and names dropping soon!
The world was introduced to LA-based DJ and producer Valentino Khan in 2014, when he burst onto the scene with his debut EP “In Khan We Trust” on Skrillex’s OWSLA label. Khan’s sound possessed a unique versatility, incorporating elements of trap, bass, hardstyle, house and more into a driving, often heavy sound that found homes on labels such as Mad Decent, Spinnin Records, and Ultra. In 2015, Khan’s original track “Deep Down Low” became an international sensation, earning the title of “Most Played Track” of the year and topping Sirius XM’s #1 Song of 2015 on Electric Area. Since then, he has earned a reputation as a remix master with official renditions of RL Grime’s “Pressure,” Alison Wonderland’s “Good Enough,” Calvin Harris’s “One Kiss” and more. His original productions include “Pump,” which has over 17M streams on Spotify, “Gold” with Sean Paul, as well as production credits for the likes of 2 Chainz, B.O.B., Dizzee Rascal, Iggy Azalea, T.I. and more. On the touring front, Khan sold out his show at the iconic Hollywood Palladium this year, featuring a b2b set with Shaquille O’Neal (DJ Diesel) and a surprise appearance by legend Snoop Dogg. 2020 is already shaping up to be the year of Valentino Khan, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
