New Diplo style? Yes. Following recent Electro/EDM hits, the popular DJ Don, Thomas Wesley Pentz (Diplo), returns with something different in collaboration with Canadian producer Sleepy Tom. A new original, “Be Right There,” featuring vocals from Priscilla Renea (now known as Muni Long).
Released via Mad Decent, this jam is actually an uncredited sampling and reinterpretation of the 1992 R&B classic “Don’t Walk Away” by Jade, whose melody and feel are instantly recognizable. This move showcases Diplo’s ability to blend his electronic dance music sensibilities with a distinctly old-school House music rhythm, creating a feel-good, Tropical House/Deep House hybrid.
The song is peaking high on international charts, hitting the Top 10 in the UK and Australia. Watch the music video below.
