Dress Code Interview 2015

A moment ago, I had a chat with Dress Code, an Electro virtual band fronted by Derek Holley who is responsible for playing all the instruments, producing and writing the songs. I was impressed with this multi-talented artist and decided to know more about his fascinating music. Read below the exclusive interview!

1 – Why do you choose to redefine Dress Code as a “virtual band”?

I think of Dress Code as a “virtual band” because I play all the live instruments (guitar, bass, keys, electronic drums) on the recordings in addition to writing and producing them. I started out as a drummer and learned to play other instruments originally to write songs and make demos of them, but I couldn’t put a band together and decided to just do it all myself.

2 – Who are your biggest influences?

Prince, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, The Crystal Method

3 – Have ever made music for films?

I had music in a horror film, “Kolobos”, and a suspense/mystery film, “Limbo”.

4 – Tell us something about your latest releases. How did they come about?

The latest Dress Code release is the “Nightlife EP”, and it’s style combines EDM with rock and funk influences on the different tracks. This came about because even though I perform dance music, I’m also a fan of other genres and wanted to show elements of those other influences.

5 – What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on publicity and getting the word out about the new EP.
