ESP Evolution Interview 2016
This is actually a very nice interview with ESP Evolution, you should read out the whole thing. The musical duo composed of Overdose (producer) and Lady Capri (singer/songwriter) opened for us and share all their perspectives related to the music world. ESP Evolution’s music is available on iTunes.

1 – How did you meet?

We met actually at a credit union where Lady Capri was working at the time. But we didn’t know that one of her co-workers and friend of Overdose’s, was secretly plotting to hook us up. I guess the plotting worked!

2 – How would you describe your music in just one phrase?

Good music that ignores boundaries and breaks down barriers!

3 – Did you always think that you were going to be in the music industry or did you have any other goals?

Overdose: Yes, I knew in junior high that I loved and wanted to do music.
Lady Capri: I always knew I wanted to be an entertainer because I love helping people escape for their everyday bullshit, even if its only for a little while.

4 – When it comes to your personalities, how are you similar and how are you different?

Overdose is a cool, calm, creative, passionate, funky Guitar God (and music producer).
Lady Capri is a sexy, cool, crazy, creative, passionate, outspoken singer/songwriter (and actress).

We are similar in that we both love music across all genres. We both believe in thinking, living and creating outside the boxes that society tries to place us all in. We both say fuck the box!

5 – Who are your musical inspirations?

So many, it’s hard to name them all!

Overdose: Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Funkadelic Parliment, etc, etc….

Lady Capri: Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Luther Vandross, Isley Brothers, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.

Basically, if you are an artist making good music, any good music you’re an inspiration!!!!

6 – What’s been the coolest experience in your career so far?

Overdose: Our band playing the 2016 Los Angeles Marathon.

Lady Capri: In 2015 when our single “Rasta Movement” reached #24 on the FMQB Top 40/AC Top 200 Chart the week of 8/5/2015 and was also in the top 10 of some of the CMJ charts in a few states over the spring and summer of 2015.

7 – What’s the name of your latest single/album? When did you produce it?

We will actually be releasing five different singles from our new upcoming 2016 album ‘Unstoppable’. The song we sent you is one of Lady Capri’s personal favorites and is called “Boy You Make Me Feel”. It was produced in 2016.

8 – How was the recording process?

The recording process is fun but not without its challenges. But when you are doing what you love and you are determined to do it, challenges are just little road bumps.

9 – How do you take criticism, especially on social media?

Constructive criticism is cool. Only a fool thinks they know everything and can’t get better. But hateful criticism is expected and just ignored because you won’t get anywhere in life letting the words of haters affect you. Fuck’em and keep it moving!!!

10 – What are your future plans for 2016?

Well we are currently promoting the new album and will be doing some promotional live shows. We also have an ESP Evolution movie in the works and are also recording and compiling new songs for that soundtrack. Onward and upward!
