In this exclusive interview, the creative duo Lady Decibel joins us to dive into their journey and plans for 2025. With a sound that blends influences, authentically reflecting their musical journey and developing approach, Lady Decibel continues to work towards establishing their reputation, aiming to share their passion with fans and contribute to elevating the global electronic music community.

As they look ahead to 2025, Lady Decibel offers insight into their creative goals, gearing up for a year of exciting releases, creative exploration, and opportunities to further their connection with fans on and off the dancefloor.

1. What excites you most about the year ahead? Are there any specific projects or releases you’re especially looking forward to?

We’re really excited about our first release this year, which will be part of a compilation for BABE Records (release date TBD). BABE Records is a division of BABEATX, a community focused on empowering women, non-binary, genderfluid, and genderqueer people. This release will mark the debut of the new sound we’ve been working on over the past few months!

2. With a growing discography of original tracks and remixes, how do you plan to evolve your sound in 2025?

We’re thrilled to be pushing our sound in a harder, more aggressive direction. Lately, we’ve been crafting a unique fusion of Acid Techno, Peak Time, and Hard House, aiming to carve out a style that feels fresh yet rooted in the iconic energy of 90s and early 2000s NRG music.

Back then, NRG revolved around Hard House, Hard Trance, and Techno, and our goal is to reimagine those influences in a modern way—blending their essence with contemporary harder and mainstage styles for today’s dancefloors.

This fresh sound will make its debut on our upcoming release with BABE Records, and we couldn’t be more excited!

3. Are there any upcoming releases you can tease that you feel truly represent where Lady Decibel is headed creatively?

Sure! Here’s a sneak peek of our upcoming release with BABE Records, titled “What You Lookin’ At.”

4. You’ve spoken about your love for 90s and 2000s Dance music. How do you plan to keep that influence fresh and relevant in your music this year?

Aside from developing our newer, evolved sound, we’re also looking forward to creating some exciting remixes and edits of classic Dance hits from that era, like 4 Strings’ “Take Me Away.” We’re even considering reworking some iconic Hard House tracks from the era to give them a fresh, modern twist!

5. How do you envision your connection with fans growing in 2025, both online and through live events?

In 2025, we plan to double down on our social media activity, focusing on creating a more interactive and engaging experience for our fans. This includes hosting lots of livestreams and sharing plenty of behind-the-scenes content to give our audience a closer look at what we’re working on. We’ll also continue to share free remixes and edits, ensuring fans feel connected and appreciated while enjoying fresh takes on their favorite tracks!

In addition to our online efforts, we’re also committed to connecting with our fans in person during live events. After every show, we’ll set aside time to meet our audience face-to-face, giving us the opportunity to thank them personally for their support.

Whether it’s snapping selfies, or simply sharing stories, these post-show meet-and-greets will be our way of building meaningful connections and fostering a sense of community. We believe that these interactions are just as important as the music, creating memories that go beyond the dancefloor and celebrating the shared passion that brings us all together.

6. As the industry evolves, are there any trends in electronic music that you’re particularly excited to embrace or challenge in 2025?

Yes, we’re huge fans of the harder Dance sound that Hannah Laing is pioneering through her label, Doof. We love how the label puts a fresh spin on Hard Dance while staying true to the essence of those iconic 90s and 2000s rave sounds.

It’s inspiring to see Doof championing a movement that bridges the gap between nostalgia and innovation, creating a space where the energy and raw emotion of old-school rave culture thrive in a modern context. This approach resonates deeply with us as we aim to channel a similar spirit in our own music and vision for the dancefloor.

7. You’ve been vocal about inclusivity in the music community. How do you plan to further advocate for this in your work in the year ahead?

Inclusivity is one of the core themes for Lady Decibel, and to further advocate for this, we plan on building new relationships with communities that share this value.

Our recent connection with BABEATX (babeatx.com) marks an exciting and meaningful step in this journey. Inclusivity lies at the heart of BABEATX’s mission, making them a perfect partner in our shared vision of creating safe and welcoming spaces for all. One of their most groundbreaking efforts is Babestock, an annual summer festival held during Pride month, featuring an all-female, non-binary, and genderqueer lineup—a pioneering event and the first of its kind in North America.

We’re incredibly proud to support and celebrate this trailblazing initiative and are committed to uplifting BABEATX and their amazing work as we continue our mission to foster love, unity, and respect both on and off the dancefloor.

8. What are your main creative and professional goals for 2025?

Our main goal is to get signed to the legendary Hard House/Techno label, Tidy Trax, and we’re determined to make it happen. This year, we’re also hoping to play our very first festival—a huge milestone we can’t wait to achieve.

Another exciting goal on our list is attending our very first Amsterdam Dance Event, immersing ourselves in one of the world’s most iconic gatherings for dance music enthusiasts and professionals!

9. How does 2025 fit into your long-term vision for Lady Decibel? Where do you see yourselves by the end of the year?

This year, we’re dedicated to expanding our networks, enhancing our social media presence, and refining our ever-evolving sound. Instead of focusing on self-releases, we’ll be targeting specific labels that align with our vision to reach wider audiences and build stronger connections within the industry.

By year’s end, our goal is to have a collection of releases on respected labels that truly resonate with and showcase our distinctive style of Dance music.

10. Finally, reflecting on your artistic growth in 2024, what’s one lesson or milestone you’re carrying into 2025 that’s shaping your direction?

One key lesson we learned in 2024 is the importance of not tying your entire sound and branding to a single trend or niche. While we deeply admire the fresh, modern Dance sounds pioneered by artists like Marlon Hoffstadt, DJ Heartstring, and Testpress, we’ve realized that aligning too closely with a specific style can limit creativity and make it harder to evolve and reinvent ourselves in a meaningful way.

Staying versatile and open to a range of influences allows us to maintain artistic freedom and push boundaries while still drawing inspiration from the sounds we love.
