Film Composer Creates Unique EDM Experience Inspired By Extreme Sports

Film Composer Creates Unique EDM Experience Inspired By Extreme Sports
Andy Favre, 28 years old, French film composer, better known under his stage name Alpine Universe unveiled his new music video “Leap Of Faith” this month. The video directed by Spanish director German Izquierdo Valero features Favre performing live with a custom rig made of unique electronic and midi instruments. Alpine Universe vows to encourage the EDM scene to keep expanding towards new horizons with live settings and studio experimentation. The strength of electronic music is that it is a HUGE spectrum of genres. Alpine aims to explore some untouched areas of that spectrum and take the time to craft new sounds, even if the music is hard to classify in the end.

ALPINE UNIVERSE: “In the Leap Of Faith music video I perform a series of solos on different instruments: a synthesizer, midi finger-triggers, pedals, electronic drums and an electronic accordion. It demonstrates how electronic music can have a lot of performance elements within a DJ setup. German and I wanted this video to have an artful aesthetic, not just a performance recording. German brought his sense of visual storytelling, philosophy and symbolism to the screen in a very subtle and tasteful way.”

Leap Of Faith is released ahead of the THE LINES EP inspired by Favre’s background as a big-mountain skier. The Lines EP consists of 5 songs that were made for ski, extreme sports videos and documentaries featuring some of the best riders on the planet. Some of these films have already been released, while others are touring film festivals at the moment. It is a sequel to Alpine Universe’s epic soundtrack named ‘SEDNA’ released last summer.

ALPINE UNIVERSE: “The Lines EP is about living in the moment, being in tune with the elements and not being affected by the trends. It’s about choosing your own “line”. When you pick a certain line down the mountain, you may take risks, but only to push your own limits: it’s not about competition or fashion, it is about beauty and elegance.

Within an all-electronic environment, I have played and recorded real instruments such as guitars, ancient drums, accordion and strings all integrated into a vast palette of musical genres, from the melodic dubstep of “Waterbender” to the industrial “Hyperion” and the big-beat sounds of “The Klimb”. It is balanced with the softer and earthy mood of “We are Found” and the fun, childlike “Freeski” song. The LINES EP doesn’t follow any recipe.”

The recording of ‘Lines’ was unusually long. Within a music sequencer, every note is quantized and each performance can be altered to perfection, but for this EP, Favre was looking for a “human touch”. The addition of many layers of acoustic instruments was an incredible amount of work. Moreover, as a film composer, Favre is attached to storytelling, symbolism and raw emotions. Each Alpine Universe track is crafted to be an epic journey with its own storyline.

Alpine Universe is currently working on a single with the Musyca Children’s Choir in Los Angeles: They are about to record some new music with a group of more than 40 kids. He is also part of the artist collective Everett Entertainment. They just started a new record label called Space Gang Records specializing in bass music, trap and hip-hop.

DØBER Returns To Protocol With Riding Tech/Electro-Influenced "Tear The Roof"
DØBER is back on Protocol with his new single “Tear The Roof”, a party-ready track that follows up on his debut “Twisted” EP from earlier this year. The release received a strong welcome, amassing over 130k streams on Spotify since its release on February 14th. The newcomer’s propensity for intense club music, that toes the line between electro and tech-house, is once again evident in the form of heavy percussive synths over a driving bassline and distorted, catchy vocals. “Tear The Roof” is uniquely different from previous tracks “Make It Better” and “Losing My Mind,” which channeled more groovy and trap influences, respectively, indicating that DØBER has more up his sleeve than meets the eye.

Nicky Romero and the Protocol crew can always be counted on for cutting-edge new music, melding a variety of genres for exciting and unexpected sounds. Their latest additions feel right at home with that mantra, bringing a fusion of tech-house and electro sound with plenty of grooves to the table. DØBER joins a full roster of talented producers such as Thomas Gold, Deniz Koyu, Marc Benjamin, Teamworx, Maximals, and more. The talented newcomer draws his inspiration from artists such as Dogblood, ZHU, and Gesaffelstein, promising plenty of dark, hard-hitting tunes to add to the label’s repertoire. Protocol’s mixture of veteran heavyweights and fresh new talent makes for some of the most exciting releases in the game, along with the unlimited potential for collaborations. We look forward to more releases from DØBER and the rest of the Protocol team coming soon!

Let Barong Family Transport You To The Crazy Nightlife Of Thailand With This Album!
After a three-part series of mini-releases, Barong Family‘s highly anticipated ‘Hard in Bangkok’ LP is finally out in full force! Although travel is limited for many listeners right now, the album will whisk you away to Thailand’s capital city, where 14 artists of the Barong crew gathered to hang out, exchange ideas, and as a result of the production camp, made new music. “Hard in Bangkok” brims with its spirit, from the cacophonous and frenzied theme of hardstyle-influenced, hard-hitting tracks like “Tom Yam Disco” from Sihk and Stoltenhoff to the down-and-dirty, booty-shaking vibe of RayRay and Crisis Era’s “Naughty.” There’s even “BKK to LA,” which is Rawtek & LNY TNZ’s trap answer to vocal bass. Yellow Claw makes appearances on four tracks, opening with “Supernoize,” that opened the album’s tracklist and announced it as a single release back in January; following up with “Beat Your Mother” featuring Radical Redemption and Lil Texas, “Let There Be Bass” with Dither, as well as “Free Your Mind” with Crisis Era. Barong Family pulled off a label-wide album with flying colors, and we can’t wait to see what exotic location inspires their next one!

Jim Taihuttu and Nils Rondhuis are the talented duo behind Yellow Claw, the electronic music artist project that has been changing the game in bass music since 2013. Their heavy, hip-hop-influenced, and club-ready sound began on their early tracks like “DJ Turn It Up” and “In My Room” ft. Ty Dolla $ign & Tyga – which collectively are about to surpass 300M streams on Spotify alone and both have been certified Gold. Yellow Claw’s 2015’s debut album “Blood For Mercy” hit #1 on Billboard’s Heat Seekers Chart, Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart, and scored an Edison Award – the Dutch equivalent of GRAMMY. They haven’t slowed down since, with a packed tour calendar that included last year’s epic takeover of the LA’s iconic Shrine Auditorium to a crowd of 7K people, and their work with Barong Family label. Stay tuned for more new music from this ready-ready crew coming this year!

Barong Family Drops New EP + Brings The Party To Coronavirus Affected Fans In Asia
The Barong Family‘s crew just released their new EP ‘Barong Family – Hard in Bangkok Pt. 1’ a four-track release consisting of new music from the label’s prodigy artists Crisis Era, Rawtek, Sihk, Stoltenhoff, Radical Redemption, and Nonsens, in addition to Yellow Claw‘s last month’s release “Supernoize” with Juyen Sebulba featuring RayRay. The EP serves as a prelude to label’s full length 20-track “Hard In Bangkok” album dropping on March 27. Yellow Claw and their Barong Family’s appeal goes beyond their meticulous production and rage-ready sound. The attention to their fans through gestures like this one is what truly sets them apart from the crowd, and they aren’t about to let coronavirus keep their fans from having a great time. Amid the worldwide concern about the virus, many of their fans in Asia are quarantined and unable to leave their homes to attend shows, so the Dutch duo broadcasted a live set from their home studio in Bali on the Chinese social media platform Huya. The almost 2-hour long show attracted 2.2 million viewers who went wild, commenting on the platform that they were hosting viewing parties in their homes while under quarantine.
