Moon And Aries Transcendence Album Interview

Moon And Aries prioritize their authentic vision while expressing genuine emotions on their newest album, ‘Transcendence. Certainly, we’re talking about music created with a purpose, which transcends current trends.

Want the inside scoop on this interesting material? Then read our interview to uncover the truth behind the music!

1 – The new album has been titled ‘Transcendence’. Musically speaking, have you been inspired by something metaphysical or philosophical?

Dear Erick, first: thanks so much for having me (Tom Aries) today to talk about our album ‘Transcendence’ and MOON AND ARIES in general. The answer is a clear “yes and no”. With the theme of Transcending, it really just coincided with what Jordana and I were facing in
our own lives.

The album happened very naturally, without force or demand. We both were truly at this moment of shifting and upgrading. In our endless conversations, we are also often philosophical and very thoughtful. We think about our inner problems and about what is happening in the outer world around us.

Jordana and I like to explore these metaphysical and quantum concepts because they are just as real as everything we see, but our perception and our perspective are what shift the many truths at play.

2 – At this point in your careers, how do you see the possibility of transcending the artistic realm?

We all know the cycle of trials and tribulations leading to resolutions and revolutions (two titles of the album) and the immense personal growth that happens when we push ourselves out of old patterns that no longer serve us. This transformation into a leveled-up version of yourself gets you to walk an exciting new path with golden opportunities.

The best way to express this upgrade is with the word ‘Transcendence.’ And each one of the themes of our songs is our awakening to this concept and the embodiment of it.

To transcend time and space and heal the aspects of yourself that have been left out in the cold. To go deeper and higher at the same time.

Maybe we have already gone beyond the artistic realm with this album. What do you think, dear readers and listeners?…

3 – The album is composed of 12 songs. Do you believe this number has a special significance?

We wanted to create something that resonates with the different phases of life. Each of the 12 tracks represents a month of the year (or one of the 12 zodiac signs if you’re into that), exploring themes of personal growth and transformation.

It’s like a musical journey through the seasons of life. We’ve tried to capture the essence of change, challenge, and ultimately, transcendence.

4 – Is there a fusion of musical styles in these songs? Tell us a bit more about how you achieved it.

Very interesting: our signature style is described as “Melody Meets Meaning.” Because it’s all about creating music that’s not just catchy, but also thought-provoking. We want our listeners to feel something, to be moved by both the sound and the message.

That’s why we don’t feel confined to a particular genre. We first think about the story, the song title, and then it’s either a more electronic Dance song or, as with three of our songs (“Traffic”, “A Love Revival”, “Nothing To Lose”), a more Soul, Jazz, RnB genre mix.

But it’s no secret that we love Trip-Hop and that’s why there’s always a bit of it in every song. Or sometimes even more.

5 – Do you think listeners prefer music with a defined purpose or are musical trends more relevant nowadays?

We very much hope that we will find listeners who don’t consume music as fast food, but who like inspiring stories and songs produced with genuine musical love.

The music industry often wants us to believe that only chart-ready mainstream music strikes a chord with listeners. But why do many listeners love music from the past that is no longer in the charts so much? Because it is hopefully never about a trend or the opinion of those responsible in the music business, but about songs that are made from the heart for other hearts.

6 – What would be the purpose of this new album ‘Transcendence’, especially for your followers?

A new awareness. A shift in perspective. We want to help people feel empowered and inspired after listening to our music.

We also hope our music makes their nervous feel at ease. With so much music out there theming people’s lives, we want to be the theme music of positivity and feeling good.

7 – What differences do you find between ‘Transcendence’ and your previous albums?

Jordana and I have written over 30 songs together. We’ve been through dark nights of the soul, as we dig deep for these melodies and meanings, and now we’ve propelled ourselves into new heights with ‘Transcendence.’ All our songs and therefore our 3 albums are connected.

They are part of a common journey and like travel diaries, the 3 albums reflect different stages, experiences, situations, goals, dreams, and desires. ‘Transcendence’ is certainly our best album in terms of music production quality (thanks to our brilliant mixing and mastering engineers Chris and Francois) – but musically and narratively it is another stage in our infinite journey through space and time.

8 – Of all the tracks, which do you think have the potential to become promotional singles?

An interesting question. Because in the past it was often the case that artists focused too much on writing one or two hits – among their 9-12 album songs. We chose each song as a soundtrack for a month, a period of life, a story.

Every song is handmade with love. Each one has meaning. So we would say: hopefully all 12 songs are hits or just songs that hit the listener’s heart.

9 – Upon completing this album, how long did it take you and what unexpected learnings did you encounter along the way?

Well, Jordana and I discussed the topic of the songs for a while beforehand. Sometimes we talk about the subject for 3 weeks, sometimes 3 to 6 months. So, our exploration and development of each song on the album comes from many many many hours of conversation.

To write one album per year feels right and good for us. So, maybe 12 songs – 12 months. About unexpected learnings: maybe the surprising experience that with the wonderful saxophonist (Thanks to wonderful true music soul “Jokomagic”) we suddenly had more smooth Jazz / Soul / RnB in 3 of our songs.

We didn’t know that before the album.

10 – Do you have plans to release any music videos together for this new material?

We have already published a great artistic video for “Diamond League” on YouTube. With a mix of wonderful comic art from our friend Ami aka Carainaae. Be sure to check it out!
