Pushing Daizies Returns With Remix Of Tate McRae's "you broke me first"
Following their emotive single debut “Want It To End,” released on Dim Mak Records in January, and their official remix of Apashe’s “Distance”, Pushing Daizies are back with another release that will put you right in your feelings. Their remix of Tate McRae‘s hit “you broke me first” sees the mysterious duo exploring their darker side with a more minimalistic and haunting sound; opening with soulful vocals from the original, the track quickly incorporates a goosebump-inducing drop featuring glimmering synths layered over a rhythmic and hard-hitting bassline. “You broke me first” tells the tale of an ill-fated romance from the female perspective, finally turning the tables on the last verse with distorted male vocals. The new remix provides a glimpse into the dynamic talent that is hiding behind the facade of Pushing Daizies, and with their 3rd release in less than 2 months, it appears we can expect much more to come!

Pushing Daizies is the pseudonym of two US-based dance music producers joining forces. The enigmatic duo makes groovy, bass-heavy, electronic dance music that creates an emotional roller coaster, pulling at the heartstrings of its listeners. The project, which initially began as multiple collaborations between the two artists, transpired as their synergy saw no end in sight. “Once we found our rhythm, we knew we had something special. It was bigger than just a few singles. I guess you could say that the project was an accident in the greatest way possible,” said one of the producers. The term “pushing daisies” refers to the flowers that grow over a burial plot when someone dies, which is symbolic of the cycles of life and death, light and dark. Said differently, when someone dies, life is created.

Ducktail

After leaving a successful career on Wall Street behind him, the EDM artist and producer Ducktail created an anthem of sheer reassurance with his debut single, “Over, which illuminates a spiritual decision-making green light to guide his audience into the endless possibilities that await in the unknown.

Collaborating with the Grammy-nominated platinum artist Kristal Oliver who matched the stormingly transcendent energy of the Future Bass production, which has already amassed critical acclaim from the likes of Pete Tong, allowed “Over” to reach the epitome of assuring euphoria. Mixed and mastered by Gosteffects, it never stood a chance of falling flat.

This track was designed especially for fans of Marshmello, Jack U, and Cheat Codes.

Ducktail

“Over is all about following your passion and finding happiness along the way. Music has always been the greatest source of happiness in my life. So, in a way, Ducktail was created to repay the debt I felt I owed to something that’s given me so much. Lyrically, Over is a testament to pursuit and passion; it quells decisional regret, something we’ve all experienced.” — Ducktail

“Ducktail and Kristal Oliver converged to create an unreckonable force with this fiery feat of anthemic electro-soul. With choruses that burst with riotous, almost punk, energy and ever-ascending verses, which will leave you on a new spiritual plateau, just try telling me this isn’t the debut of the year.” Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory

Codeko Arrives On Ophelia Records With “Sad Reality” Ft. Casey Cook

Casey Cook
As he continues to solidify his status in the Dance music realm, Codeko returns with a new single “Sad Reality. Featuring LA-based songstress Casey Cook, listeners will be offered a moment of vulnerability and self-reflection as the UK-native coins his first solo release on Ophelia Records.

In just a few years, Ed Clark, known as Codeko, has worked alongside some of the biggest names in electronic music to build an impressive discography of original works, collaborations, and remixes featuring The Chainsmokers, Oliver Heldens, Adventure Club, Tritonal, Wooli, and Charlie Puth.

After a previous collaboration on the song “Crazy”, Codeko and Casey Cook teamed up once again on “Sad Reality”. Inspired by personal trials and tribulations, Cook delivers an emotive performance as she voices the heartbroken in their latest stint as collaborators. “These lyrics are autobiographical and came pouring out when I was nearing the end with my ex,” says Cook.

Known for her captivating melodies and honest storytelling, Casey Cook beautifully applies her vocal prowess on the melodic bass single. Accompanied by an alluring guitar riff and wide soundscapes, Codeko perfectly transcribes Cook’s lyrics into a dreamy and anthemic production.

“‘Sad reality’ is one of those songs that came together incredibly quickly – once I heard Casey’s vocals I sat down with a guitar it just clicked, and a few hours later I recorded the basis for the entire song. The verse guitar harmonies create the ‘bittersweet’ I wanted, and the synth-heavy drop provides the energy. It took a bit more work to get the two elements to blend together cohesively, but the end result is a track I’m very fond of,” — Codeko

Making an emphatic return to Ophelia Records since the release of “Crazy” with Wooli. “Sad Reality” marks the arrival of Codeko on the independent dance music label, founded by DJ/Producer Seven Lions. Since its inception, the imprint has added over 100 releases to its discography and championed one of the most talented rosters within dance music. Now home to the English DJ/Producer, Codeko is continuing to set himself apart by reimagining old and modern sounds to make it his own.
