Published

on

New Zealand’s frontrunning talent QUIX teamed up with renowned singer/songwriter, actor, choreographer, and all-around entertainer SOFI for their new release “DROP ‘EM, a dark-spoken-word House track that packs a punch. SOFI’s performance – most recognizable from her work with deadmau5 on his smash “4×4=12” album (“Sofi Needs a Ladder” and “One Trick Pony”) is a nostalgic delight for longtime fans of electronic dance music and new listeners alike delivering style and sass with her Rap-style vocals. QUIX’s production prowess is evident in his seamless blend of hard-hitting basslines and danceable melodies, making “DROP ‘EM” into a promising future festival anthem that’s bound to be blowing up around the globe this season. Both artists also have plenty to weigh in on the track’s inspiration.

“To be making a song with SOFI is a lifelong dream coming true. Before I even could produce music, I listened to her on ‘4×4=12’ and especially resonated with her song “One Trick Pony.” The aggressive powerful Rap style vocal was so inspiring and to be here making a song with her now is a big full circle moment. Years ago, I originally had this beat made as a fun remix for a friend, but after some time, I felt that I really had to show the world this song as an original record and so I sought out looking for a top-line. House music isn’t necessarily my go-to genre to produce, but I feel as though this is the best representation of my take on House, and I’m so happy to have worked with SOFI and not only credit to her performance on the record, but an amazing person to have collaborated with.”
— QUIX

“‘DROP ‘EM’ is kinda my love letter to electronic music and its scene. The sense of defiance and, at the same time, full submission. Lyrically I like to play with double meanings, blurring the lines between being literal and metaphorical and leaving things up for interpretation. As soon as I heard QUIX’s first draft, I felt like I wanted to create something that would be fun for me to perform live and that I would also feel hyped to bop to if I heard it being played out. There’s a call-and-response element to it that feels unanimous. Like when you and your friend finish each other’s sentences.” — SOFI

QUIX

Hailing all the way from New Zealand, QUIX initially traveled to North America in 2017 for 10 shows and finished up doing an astonishing 42 stops. He has been tearing up the trap scene ever since, continuously shaking new ground with his unique sound design. Coming off three headline tours in 2018, including Coachella and support on Steve Aoki’s Kolony tour, QUIX had a break-out year with his “Illusions EP” on Dim Mak. It has racked up millions of plays and creatively merged genres with powerful vocals while staying true to QUIX’s signature sound. He has also been honored by Spotify to feature on the cover of their two biggest international dance playlists, “Mint” and “Dance Rising,” and officially remixed the likes of Steve Aoki, GASHI, RL Grime, and more.

Ibiza music video

Eliza Rose collaborates with the renowned House music icons, The Martinez Brothers, for an incredible club jam titled “Pleasure Peak.” Best of all, it features Ibiza as the setting of the music video.

Furthermore, you can expect the sound of the classic Chicago House bassline from start to end. The pulsating beats, drums, and dreamy synthesizers also work their magic.

Last month, Eliza teamed up with the Martinez Brothers for a gig at Hï Ibiza, where they dropped this track for the first time. The crowd went nuts, it was epic! And they’ve also got this cool music video directed by Isaac Lamb, filmed in the Balearic Islands. It’s got vibes from iconic videos by artists like Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Kylie, and others.

In the visuals, you’ll see these awesome artists having a fun time on the sunny island. They go sailing on a yacht, drive around in a Jeep, and eventually hit the club. This shows the different sides of a perfect day and night in Ibiza, just like how the song itself has both bright and dark elements.

Lastly, “Pleasure Peak” is a sexy cut you can enjoy during the last days of summer or on your next holiday.

Soul Central’s brand new take on the chart-topping classic has brought the track into the modern day, whilst maintaining the old-school essence of the original. A skill few can pull off. Strings Of Life / Un Amore Supremo pacing is a credit to the duo’s experience in arranging, where every build-up creates the perfect amount of tension leading towards the euphoric piano riff that is synonymous with the heart and soul of ‘House Music’.

The release has garnered support from industry players including Gorgon City, Joseph Capriati, LF System, Honey Dijon and Paco Osuna following on from their original supporters Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, Roger Sanchez, Sonny Fodera, LP Giobbi, Annie Mac, Carl Cox, Danny Howard, Hannah Wants, Paul Oakenfold, Sam Divine and Sarah Story.

“I’m beyond excited to share our new updated versions of one of the all-time clubland classics. Over the past two decades we have constantly evolved and remained firmly focussed on creating poignant, joyful releases that actively celebrate House music and the emotional connection it evokes.”
— Timmy Vegas

The new version was first featured as the final track from Graeme Park’s Hacienda House Party during lockdown which is estimated to have engaged over 4 million listeners following their first show across digital platforms showcasing icons ranging from Moby, Danny Tenaglia, Inner City, and David Morales.

CENTRL will play host to a string of new releases from the duo as they catapult far beyond their original House roots. With new singles with E-Man from ‘It’s Yours’, Cevin Fisher, Inaya Day, and many more memorable names, the duo plans to take in a more electronic-focused vibe whilst aiming to supersede previous success.

“We have an incredible amount of music that we cannot wait to share. Over the last few years, we’ve been working to raise the bar musically and grow the brand with a whole new audience. It’s great to see so much love continuing for Soul Central and our releases. Strings Of Life / Un Amore Supremo is an important part of our journey and it’s amazing to see clubbers and DJ’s across the world in full support. We love to connect people on dancefloors and ignite sustained memories.” — Matt Mckillop

Soul Central continues to top charts, receiving a Grammy Award nomination for their collaboration with iconic vocalists Crystal Waters and Robin S. The Duo have also expanded their CENTRL Music brand to worldwide syndication, following on from their Galaxy FM Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, and Spain show and their new residency with Select Radio – The UK’s No.1 dance music station.

2023 saw the duo sign a multiple album deal with Tru Thoughts, and launch their ‘Days Of Disco’ brand in Ibiza recently featuring alongside Faithless, Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), and Gok Wan whilst collating a run of hot new releases being scheduled. With all of this, the act shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
