Sunstars Coins Dance Music’s Next Subgenre With “Ghetto Funk”
Like their namesake elements, Sunstars has a knack for fusing unexpected styles of dance music into a catchy and unique sound that is all their own. Their newest release, appropriately titled “Ghetto Funk”, is a perfect example of their production prowess—from the moment the first roomy, bouncy bassline drops, the track begs for booty shaking, foot stomping, and mean muggin’ throughout its entirety. It’s clear that Sunstars is here to teach us “the sound of ghetto funk” as they perceive it. The track is Sunstars’s first single release on Protocol Recordings, which follows their premiere on the label with “Flames” as part of the Protocol ADE 2016 Compilation. Labelhead Nicky Romero has taken a shine to Sunstars’s productions, dropping both “Flames” and “Ghetto Funk” some of his biggest shows as of late, such as Balaton Sound, Tomorrowland, and Ultra Europe. Nicky also held the worldwide premiere of “Ghetto Funk” on Protocol Radio, where he also interviewed the trio as a new part of the Protocol family. The Italian trio of Andrea, Alberto and Luigi first broke onto the scene as Sunstars in 2014 with their first release on Ultra Music, titled “Reckless.” They quickly followed it with a massive remix of Benny Benassi’s “Let This Last Forever,” which landed them a slot performing at the iconic Ministry of Sound in London. After that gig, Sunstars was swept in a whirlwind of production and remix opportunities: “The Blitz,” which was a collaboration with Swanky Tunes; teaming up with Merk & Kremont for “Eyes,” and doing an official remix of Bob Sinclair’s “Someone Who Needs Me.” Most recently, they released “Ritual,” and now they have joined Protocol’s ever – growing roster of forward – thinking and dynamic talent with “Ghetto Funk.” Sunstars is also set to perform at Protocol’s Amsterdam Dance Event showcase at the legendary venue Melkweg on October 18th so stay tuned for more fresh content from this dynamic duo under the Protocol moniker!

Italian superstar artists Marnik make their return to Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak with their new dancefloor-filler “Artificial Intelligence,” for which they teamed up with French/Belgian duo Sirona and Azerbaijani artist Heyder. Heyder
Born and raised in Azerbaijan, DJ/producer Heyder, started his musical journey as a child and immediately knew that it was his future. He counts legends such as Armin van Buuren and Dash Berlin among his inspirations. After starting producing in 2014, he was invited to perform live on the stage of one of the biggest EDM music festivals – EDC Mexico 2016. His remixes have been supported by many worldwide DJs and have been played at almost all major music festivals, such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music, etc. Billboard added Heyder’s official remix for Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore” to the list of best 12 remixes for Charlie’s songs. In 2017, Heyder signed an artist management agreement with famous SDM management and started to work under the management of Stefan Dabruck. His latest remixes were signed by Universal Music, Warner Music, Atlantic Records, Big Beat Records, BMG, and more.
