10 Things You Didn't Know About Ginny Vee
Rising Italian singer Ginny Vee, is on everyone’s lips after the release of the Dance Pop single “Give Me Dynamite”. The talented lady shared with us important aspects of her life that her fans probably didn’t know… Read this exclusive interview right here!

1 – When and why did you move to LA?

I moved to LA in 2009 and came back to Europe in 2010. it was an awesome year and I learned a huge amount about the film and music industry. I got to play around in Hollywood and I even worked in a film with Michael Rooker which was amazing. In the end, though I wanted to come back to Europe where I could concentrate on my music career.

2 – What sacrifices did you make to become an artist?

I had to make a lot of sacrifices. Probably the biggest was giving up Law School. I just knew that I would rather do music than law — Ha, maybe I should have become a music lawyer. On a personal side, I had to move around a lot and that means you can sometimes lose contact with close friends. The music industry is tough and live shows are often on a Friday and Saturday night – so you lose a lot of your weekends. When most people are having fun, I’m working.

3 – Do you remember your childhood music idols?

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. It’s what my dad played on his tapes as we drove around Italy in our camper. I think the first song I sang was Smooth Criminal when I was about three. All of those artists have amazing voices.

4 – How did you start working for Mind The Floor record label?

I was fortunate enough to meet a legend in the music world, Christian DeWalden. He’s a statesman of the industry. He heard what I was doing and suggested I go talk to Vanni Giorgilli of Mind The Floor. Vanni had just come off major successes with Sigala. He was tough to convince at first, as I think there are lots of girls that want to be in the music industry – some can sing and many can’t. But we had a meeting and he heard me sing live and immediately agreed to work with me. Although he had a different vision of what I should be singing and that is where Give Me Dynamite came from. I was thrilled that Steve Manovski would do the mix. He has just co-produced and co-written the worldwide success with Sigala’s “Give Me Your Love”. To have him mix the song was great. He’s one of the most “now” people in the industry and you can hear that in the song.

5 – What is “Give Me Dynamite” about?

The song is about a couple that have always been fighting, and he has mentally checked out. But she’s trying to explain that they are great because there is that friction between them. It’s not the typical love story. The guy has given up and I’m saying “Don’t Give up, the fighting is what makes our relationship exciting.” I love to hate you. That’s where the passion comes from.

6 – According to many music critics, this track did great at the Amsterdam Dance Event. How do you feel after that?

That was an awesome feeling. The song was taken there straight after it was finished and I hadn’t had a chance to let anyone listen and give feedback – so I was really nervous. But thankfully, the song got awesome feedback, and Disco:Wax (Sony Music Denmark) wanted the song straight away.

7 – Are you planning to release an album or a new song this year?

Right now I’m ultra focused on Give Me Dynamite. I have a huge promotion schedule planned. But of course, I have a new song that will come out hopefully this year. I think it will be a really strong follow-up song. I can’t wait to get to the studio in the next months to lay down the vocals. It’s a tough one to sing, but I think people are going to really like it.

8 – What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from another musician?

Never refuse a show or appearance – even if it’s a tiny place with just two people. It doesn’t mater the size of the audience, every person that comes to hear me is really important to me. I think that an intimate show with a few people can make them your biggest fans.

9 – What are the things you do to disconnect from the busy life?

I love to just disappear into Netflix. I can smash my way through an entire season of shows in one night. It’s a fantastic escape for me. When I’m not doing that, I’m a master of Candy Crush. I think I’m on level 1900 now.

10 – Do you plan to return to Italy and perform your music over there?

For sure. It’s always important to return to your home. I have quite a strong fan base in Italy so I’ll be looking to perform in the big cities such as Milan and Rome. There’s always something special about a home crowd.
