taikoJAPAN is emerging as a new base for EDM – and TOMO HIRATA stands at the forefront of it all. A tireless promoter and believer in the global sound of EDM, he is proud to announce his new single TAIKO – released on the French top label DJ CENTER RECORDS. The track features a relenteless beat, based on the traditional Japanese taiko instrument. International response has been great so far with great comments from leading Djs all accross the world.

Sidney Samson: “I’m gonna put your song in my next radio show for sure!” Quentin Mosimann: “Full Support” Plastik Funk: “yeah! nice tune and perfect for the festivals!!” Jetfire: “cool track!” Justin Prime: “Dope”

TOMO HIRATA originally debuted in the early days of dance music. HOOJ CHOONS, the infuential UK based label released his first vinyl record in 1990 and ever since he’s been Djing and producing. Around 1994, Techno really exploded in Japan and the whole dance scene started to grow. Tomo and his friend Yo-C’s had a lot of success with the ‘X-tra’ events which became very popular in the mid to late 90’s. They featured UK Hard House & Trance and gathered 1000 people monthly. Tomo Hirata’s ‘Feels like Heaven’ was used in a Japanese horror movie and climbed up the Japanese mainstream pop chart. After that he compiled & mixed 10 Trance compilations for major record companies and supported Tiesto in Osaka in 2001.

tomo hirataLater his interests moved to deeper Trance/Psy-Trance and he released a track on Raja Ram’s TIP records. Yet, shortly after he almost stopped producing & DJing for 2-3 years. Then in 2009, one of the most talented and well known Japanese producers/DJs,Shinichi Osawa(Benny Benassi’s friend) invited Tomo to his studio and they started making Electro together. Tomo was back in the game.

Innovation is the best word that describes Valentino Khan‘s EP, ‘French Fried’. This 4-track material is filled with dance floor rhythms. A new addition to the Mad Decent family you won’t want to miss. Best of all, it’s now available on all streaming platforms.

According to the producer himself, the whole tracks are inspired by French artists that set an important precedent in America’s electronic music. More specifically, he’s borrowing a similar sonic aesthetic by the likes of Gesaffelstein and SebastiAn. In fact, this European stylistic trend represents an influence in Valentino’s edgy sound and vision to date.

You Can’t Get Bored! Mou5ZyZZ Unleashes “Melbourne Overdose”

Melbourne Overdose
Listening to music is a good thing to do when you’re bored. Of course, I would only recommend infectious tunes like “Melbourne Overdose”. This is the latest single from the one and only, Mou5ZyZZ in collaboration with Yago Music. The American DJ and producer experiments for the very first time with a subgenre of Electro House known as Melbourne Bounce.

On the one hand, pumping minimal beats, sidechained synths, and lively drops are the highlights here. While on the other, vocals match the high-level production. On a side note, compelling lyrics fantasize about hooking up with a stranger and the mystery that this implies.

Out now via Mou5 Chee5e Records, this fresh jam makes you want to do the shuffle dance, so put your foot forward and keep spinning non-stop. Get ready to distract your mind from boredom and stream in full “Melbourne Overdose” right away.

DØBER Returns To Protocol With Riding Tech/Electro-Influenced “Tear The Roof”

DØBER Returns To Protocol With Riding Tech/Electro-Influenced "Tear The Roof"
DØBER is back on Protocol with his new single “Tear The Roof”, a party-ready track that follows up on his debut “Twisted” EP from earlier this year. The release received a strong welcome, amassing over 130k streams on Spotify since its release on February 14th. The newcomer’s propensity for intense club music, that toes the line between electro and tech-house, is once again evident in the form of heavy percussive synths over a driving bassline and distorted, catchy vocals. “Tear The Roof” is uniquely different from previous tracks “Make It Better” and “Losing My Mind,” which channeled more groovy and trap influences, respectively, indicating that DØBER has more up his sleeve than meets the eye.

Nicky Romero and the Protocol crew can always be counted on for cutting-edge new music, melding a variety of genres for exciting and unexpected sounds. Their latest additions feel right at home with that mantra, bringing a fusion of tech-house and electro sound with plenty of grooves to the table. DØBER joins a full roster of talented producers such as Thomas Gold, Deniz Koyu, Marc Benjamin, Teamworx, Maximals, and more. The talented newcomer draws his inspiration from artists such as Dogblood, ZHU, and Gesaffelstein, promising plenty of dark, hard-hitting tunes to add to the label’s repertoire. Protocol’s mixture of veteran heavyweights and fresh new talent makes for some of the most exciting releases in the game, along with the unlimited potential for collaborations. We look forward to more releases from DØBER and the rest of the Protocol team coming soon!
