Viral Dubstep Artist ZABO Explores Sonic Duality On ‘Dusk & Dawn’ EP

Shortly after releasing his single Flow,” featuring C.D, ZABO returns with a brand new EP titled ‘Dusk & Dawn. It’s a two-track masterpiece in which he explores the polarities of dark and light and evil and good. Opening with “Bing Bong,” it becomes apparent by the ominous, driving beat and heavy electro drop that this track represents the former side of things; distorted vocals act as the icing on the cake here and set a strong underground tone for the EP that’s perfect for late nights on dark dancefloors. Next up is “Desolation,” which transitions effortlessly due to its similar sonic feel; however, ZABO keeps it more uplifting with melodic notes instead of grating drops, ending the EP on a peaceful note.

‘Dusk & Dawn’ features two songs; the first song on the EP has a dark and evil vibe, with a heavy electro drop. The other song has a more uplifting vibe, while still carrying on that electro feel from track 1. I felt like the title ‘Dusk & Dawn’ was a good reflection on how the two tracks contradict each other ZABO.

Dan Szabo knew his love for electronic music was everlasting at a young age. He became fascinated with music composition, which led him to study audio recording technology at the well-known OIART in London, Ontario. This led to the development of his music persona “ZABO,” which was heavily influenced by the Toronto bass community. ZABO became an international sensation when his music went viral on TikTok and Douyin, making him well known in the US and China. His single “Breathe” was the top electronic music song on TikTok in 2021, having amassed 13.5M plays on Spotify, while “Drown” has been streamed internationally over 1B times across all platforms. At this early stage in his career, ZABO has a lot of exciting news and music up his sleeve, so keep an eye out for more music coming soon.

Gammer & Pixel Terror Return With 1st Single Of 2022, “Step Back”

Published

Gammer
Dubstep heavyweights Gammer and Pixel Terror join forces for “Step Back, both artists’ first release of 2022, out on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records. True to their signature styles, “Step Back” is one of massive proportions and certainly not for the faint of heart. Opening with a glitchy, big room trap style, Gammer and Pixel Terror up the ante with a breakdown of stabbing synths and a sinister dubstep drop. The additional elements of hardstyle and psytrance clearly set the track apart from the rest, making this a strong return to the circuit for both artists. Read on for what Gammer and Pixel Trap had to say about their new release:

“‘Step Back’ is my first new original track in a while. It’s a song I’m really proud of and feel like expresses the energy we both try to create. Anyways, we spent ages on a cool dubstep drop, but everyone plays the half-baked psytrance drop instead. So 10/10. Fully recommend!” — Gammer

“Took a lot of time back and forth with Gammer to create a festival banger that will suit the needs of nearly any electronic aficionado. From the huge chanty chords to the glitchy dubstep to the double-time hard-psy, we are really thrilled that this displays so much of both of our styles in such a dangerously cohesive way. We hope this will be a summer anthem, and from the support it has already received, we believe it might!” — Pixel Terror

English producer Gammer has become known in the dance circuit for his UK hardcore sound as well as trap and hardstyle, which attracted a new and younger generation of listeners to the heavy-hitting genres. He had become a household name on Monstercat by 2017, known for his timeless party anthems such as “The Drop” or “Party Don’t Stop” and collabs, such as “Quit” with Hudson Mohawke, “Incoming” with Steve Aoki or “Digressions” with Mija. On the other hand, Pixel Terror has made a name for himself with his own dubstep style, with notable releases such as “Contra,” “Enigma,” “Amnesia,” and more. Both artists have performed at some of the world’s best festivals, including Gammer’s recent performance at Tomorrowland and Pixel Terror’s at Bootshaus – one of the top club venues in the world. Keep an eye out for more coming from these bass maestros.

You May Have Heard This Lil Jon Remix By Spag Heddy… It’s Finally Here!

Published

Spag Heddy
After his “Gettin That” bootleg secured #1 on Dubstep’s Top 50 tracks for a week-long stretch in May, Spag Heddy returns with his highly-anticipated bootleg of Lil Jon’s high-octane cut, “Fuccboi. As the Dubstep don spices up the summer with his headline Saucy Summer 2022 international tour, Spag Heddy continues to showcase his heavy-hitting caliber with this pure Bass mayhem.

➤ Free Download

Building off Styles & Complete and Bailo’s original production, Spag Heddy graces the track with decimating basses, war-ready vocals, and abrasive snares. A quintessential neck breaker from start to finish, this bootleg has already seen incredible support with notable bass curators Excision, NGHTMRE, SLANDER, and several others rinsing the remix in their sets.

“Lil Jon always brings that energy that makes you so rowdy and wanna party super hard, so naturally I felt like going full nutty in this bootleg, and succeeded. The bootleg came together really quick – Lil Jon’s vocals and the original basses just asked for some simple but huge dubstep anthem. When Bailo sent over the stems for this one it felt like being a kid and your friend giving you his best shiniest toys that you’ve been enviously staring at, to play with for as long as you want. I have definitely wrecked some toys though, I’m afraid.

The original goes so damn hard, that it definitely felt like a challenge to equal that same energy but in my own style. Needless to say I brought in some of my wackiest and most obnoxious basses, put them in a bunch of easy and wonky patterns, and voila there was a terrible wall of noise that people like to mosh to. This bootleg is kind of really dumb as in how simple and textbook 2020 dubstep it is, but at the same time it’s totally fine because it has super distinctive Spag basses and sound design, so kind of the same recipe as the original in a way.” Spag Heddy

Spag Heddy’s “Fuccboi” bootleg also highlights the recent dialogue surrounding bootleg culture within the electronic scene. While some have negative connotations with bootlegging, many artists have acknowledged that bootlegs further cultivate the scene and creative artistry as a whole. Now more than ever, Spag Heddy is building his already impressive discography with incendiary singles, remixes, and much more to come.

Zomboy Reveals Second Single “Desperado” On Rott N’ Roll Records

Published

Rott N' Roll Records

Less than a month after his recently released single, Zomboy is back with his second release on his very own Rott N’ Roll Records. “Desperado” features a fresh sound and style while showcasing the growth this new career phase brings as an independent artist and label head.

“Desperado was such a fun track for me to make. It was my way of not going too heavy with themes or the complexities I would typically put into my works. It’s also the first time in a long time that I have ventured down to House tempo so it’s been a nice change of pace for me!” — Zomboy

“Desperado” is a deep dive into the vast possibilities of the complex and technical Dubstep and House genres. With a male vocal hypnotically repeating the phrase, “men, always a dead man,” Zomboy instantly draws listeners in. Razor-sharp turns and fanatical drops take the listener on a sonic experience of dynamic proportions. Experimenting as he usually does, Zomboy approaches the track with a bold yet subtle touch as he embraces the groovier side of House, a style he isn’t necessarily known for. A clear step away from the stylings shown in his previous single “Flatlined” feat. Micah Martin, “Desperado” is a testament to Zomboy’s willingness to embrace change and challenge himself while not sacrificing the pristine quality of his output.

Making his debut as Zomboy in 2011, with the track “Organ Donor,” the UK producer’s 10-year career now faces a new frontier. Moving on from Never Say Die Records, to starting his own label Rott N’ Roll Records, Zomboy stands in an exciting phase for both himself and his fans. Slowly building the label’s momentum with “Desperado” and “Flatlined,” Zomboy’s 2022 has grasped the public’s attention with an iron grip. Starting from a small town in Penzance, UK to now sharing his music with the global scene, Zomboy’s music and his upcoming movements with Rott N’ Roll Records will continue to raise the expectations of his fans.
