The question, What is retro music?, finds a powerful answer in Seersha‘s brand new song for “Running In The Dark.” A wonderful Electro-Pop gem that resembles the synth-driven essence of the 1980s.
With its glowing magenta neon visuals and a melancholic melody straight out of a classic soundtrack, the music video serves as a perfect definition, proving that retro music is more than a passing trend; it’s the best style ever created on Earth.
Seersha’s Voice Takes Center Stage
This tune isn’t for dancing or getting wild; it has a more reflective quality that makes you focus on the lyrics. If I’m not mistaken, I would say “Running In The Dark” is about a bad relationship destined to fail.
The electric guitars add a little bit of a Rock feel, but with those constant drum machines and the synthesizers we all love, it’s something else entirely.
My favorite part, though, is Seersha’s spectacular voice. She’s an Atlanta singer who was born in the ’80s and writes and produces her own tracks. She’s completely committed to a vintage essence, from her sound to her aesthetic.
As a result, her passion has led her to create jams that sound like genuine radio hits, and it’s a real pleasure to have discovered her today.
What Is Retro Music?
Retro music is a whole mood. It’s simply a cheat code for bridging the generation gap, letting you discover the bops your parents grew up with while giving them a fresh spin on their faves.
It’s a major cultural link and a shared experience. In this blog, I’m calling it Electro-Pop, even though the purer term is actually Synthpop. Either way, without getting too technical, its main ingredient is nostalgia, and that’s truly the magic of this music genre’s compositions.
It’s about reliving memories, not just replicating them, and even making them better with current technology and instruments. That’s what makes artists like Seersha so valuable.
With “Running In The Dark,” she’s created a timeless melody that dodges the expiration date.
