Mark your calendars for November 7th because our favorite Canadian singer is back with her fourth album, ‘Happiness Is Going to Get You.’ And if you’ve been asking, what type of music is Allie X? I’m diving deep into that question with a review of her latest single, “Reunite.”
A New Era with “Infant Marie”
The new music video, directed by Cal McIntyre with Victorian-inspired costuming by Charles Jeffrey, is deceptively simple and even a little plain at first glance. But don’t be fooled, Allie X is adopting a whole new character called “Infant Marie.”
Rocking a dark gown and a dramatic, centuries-old hairstyle, the singer treats you to her majestic voice while playing the piano. Moreover, “Infant Marie” is Allie X’s latest persona, using that Victorian aesthetic to comment on modern Pop standards.

Analyzing Allie X’s Sound and Lyrical Themes
So, to get back to the big question, what type of music is Allie X? The simplest answer is, of course, Pop, but she delivers way more than that. Her tracks absolutely shine with buzzing, brilliant synthesizers, which land her squarely in the Electro-Pop (or contemporary Synthpop) category.
Beyond the sound, she’s definitely considered an Alt-Pop icon. Her peculiar originality allows her to stand out and look distinct from many of the huge mainstream acts.
What’s truly indisputable, though, is that Allie X is a renowned Avant-Garde Pop artist. This means she loves to experiment with all her musical projects, constantly breaking the mold and inventing some delightful new weirdness that ends up catching on with everyone.

As for her lyrics, they are always deep. Take her new single, “Reunite.” That tune is all about ending the internal fight, finally becoming whole, finding “synchronicity,” and stopping the waste of time spent feeling disconnected.
I believe it’s a powerful anthem about self-forgiveness and healing.
Overall, the themes in her songs consistently explore identity, persona, self-discovery, and the complex navigation of emotional fragmentation. In other words, Allie X is where Pop music goes to get its head examined.
