For Turin-based producer and DJ Alphones, his journey has been shaped by passion, guiding the ongoing evolution of his sound through a genuine connection to electronic music and its many substyles. Drawing influence from a broad spectrum of genres, both within and outside the scene, Alphones continues to refine an approach that reflects his inspirations while crafting music that feels both personal and distinct.
Today, Alphones joins us to dive deeper into the artists, genres, and moments that have shaped his creative path, providing a glimpse into his journey, process, and direction moving forward.
1. Hi Alphones, how are you?
I’m great, thanks! Really excited to be sharing more about my journey and my latest work.
2. Can you share some of the earliest musical influences that first sparked your interest in Electronic Music?
Some of my earliest influences came from Classic House – Masters At Work, early Daft Punk, and the funky grooves that defined that era. That sound immediately caught my ear and made me want to understand how it was built.
3. Was there a particular artist, track, or live experience that made you want to start producing music yourself?
Seeing Seth Troxler play live for the first time had a huge impact on me. The way he controlled the energy of the crowd without relying on obvious drops really opened my eyes to the power of groove and storytelling in DJing.

4. Which substyles within Electronic Music do you find yourself drawing from most? Do you feel those influences naturally blend in your sound?
I naturally draw from Classic House, Tech House, and deeper Tribal grooves. Those substyles have this timeless energy that I try to blend into something fresh in every track or set I play.
5. Are there any artists or genres outside of Electronic Music that have unexpectedly shaped your approach to production or DJing?
Absolutely – I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from Soul, Jazz, and even some cinematic scores. That musicality influences how I approach melodies, atmosphere, and dynamics in both DJing and production.
6. How do you balance paying homage to your influences while still keeping your sound fresh and forward-thinking?
I think it’s about respecting your roots while not being afraid to evolve. I love referencing the past through subtle elements – like chord progressions or swing – but I always aim to reframe them in a modern context.
7. Are there any Producers or DJs you look up to not just for their music, but for how they manage their careers?
I really admire how artists like Jamie Jones or Hot Since 82 have built strong identities not just musically, but also as curators and label heads. Their ability to grow while staying true to their sound is inspiring.
8. Has your taste in music shifted over time, and how has that evolution influenced the direction of your work as a Producer?
Definitely. My taste has evolved from more minimal Tech grooves to fuller, more melodic and rhythmic productions. That shift has made my sound more layered and emotionally engaging.
9. Are there certain musical elements—like specific grooves, textures, or sounds—that you’re consistently drawn to because of your influences?
I’m always drawn to warm, punchy drums and rolling basslines with a touch of Funk. Textures that have soul but still work in a club context – that blend is what defines a lot of my sound.
10. If you had the chance to spend a day in the studio with one of your key inspirations, who would it be—and what would you hope to learn from the experience?
Spending a day in the studio with Dennis Ferrer would be a dream. I’d love to learn how he balances deep emotional expression with such powerful grooves. His sense of space and dynamics is next level.
11. Lastly, is there one piece of music that’s consistently helped you reconnect with your creativity—something you return to for inspiration and motivation?
One track I always go back to is “Can You Feel It” by Mr. Fingers. It’s pure emotion through simplicity, and every time I hear it, I’m reminded why I started making music in the first place.
As our conversation with Alphones comes to a close, it is clear that his broad appreciation for music continues to fuel his artistic evolution, driving him to explore new sonic territory and shape a sound that reflects his musical taste. With a growing sense of identity and a clear vision for what lies ahead, Alphones is carving out a path defined by curiosity, intention, and steady creative growth.
