Inspired by a world-famous art installation, ASH HALO‘s latest single blurs the lines between machine and humanity.
The electronic duo unveils “Can’t Help Myself,” a powerful and deeply moving track inspired by Sun Yuan & Peng Yu’s robotic art piece of the same name. The installation—a machine programmed to endlessly contain its own oil leaks until it deteriorates—mirrors the human struggle: our need to fix, control, and persist, even as we break down.
“This song is for anyone who’s ever felt trapped in a loop, pushing forward, breaking down, and still refusing to stop,” says Sara of ASH HALO.
The contrast between fragility and force makes “Can’t Help Myself” both cathartic and devastating, capturing the weight of fighting a battle you can’t win.
“We saw ourselves in that robot,” says Dave of ASH HALO. “It’s a cycle we all know—chasing, capturing, repairing, surviving.”

Set against a melancholy piano melody, the verses carry a deep sense of longing, while the chorus explodes into an emotion-infused wave of melodic bass.
“Can’t Help Myself” is part of the same EP as “Vice Versa,” another standout tune featuring a collaboration with Save Yourself.
