Rockstar on-screen, rockstar off-screen. What if I told you there is a General Hospital veteran star who has featured in a hit song? Jack Wagner who played the role of Frisco Jones on General Hospital has proved that there are never too many feathers in an artist’s hat.

Along with being the phenomenal actor that he is, do you know he is also someone who has been a part of a very famous hit song? Talk about swapping roles with rhythms.

When Frisco Jones first arrived to the town of Port Charles in back 1984, he came in to be the lead singer of the band Blackie and the Riff Raff. While this band could not keep everyone dancing to its tune for too long, the portrayer of the character, Frisco Jones, Jack Wagner picked up the interest there.

In the soap opera, the band broke off when one of the band members killed their fellow band member and was sent to jail. Then again, this is the General Hospital I am talking about. You’ll find much more stories like this in General Hospital spoilers—what else would you expect?

However, this whole stint gave birth to a singer Jack Wagner who has wowed us with his beautiful musical gift. As for what happened to Frisco, he went on to become the director of the WSB for the years to come.

Jack Wagner And His Discography

Along with bringing Frisco Jones to life on General Hospital, the actor-turned-musician has recorded five albums. In fact, he is so good at it that one of his musical albums hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the early 1985s. Then again, it does not surprise us one bit. After all, good talent should never go wasted.

Among all the songs the artist has recorded is “All I Need,” which was released in 1984. This was the first song in Jack Wagner’s discography and it was also the one to have been loved the most. Remember I mentioned one of his albums hitting the #2 mark, it was this one. What a year it was for the actor and musician. He is not only taking General Hospital fans by storm but also making the world dance to his beats.

Later on, the actor many more singles including one in 1985 which was named “Lighting Up The Night,” “Don’t Give Up Your Day Job” in 1987, “Alone In A Crowd” in 1993, “Dancing In The Moonlight” in 2005, and “On The Porch” in 2014.

I wasn’t lying when I said, Jack Wagner is a rockstar on-screen and off-screen. After being in General Hospital for more than 30 years, the actor bowed out of the soap opera in 2023.

There was a mention of his possible return to the soap opera very recently, but nothing has led to fruition yet. However, being the avid fan that I am, I hope that he does come back on the soap at some point.

The Influence Of Music On General Hospital

It looks like Jack Wagner was not the only music buff on General Hospital. Rick Springfield who played the character of Dr. Noah Drake on the soap opera is also blessed by the musical fairies. Rick Springfield played the role on the ABC sudser between 1981-1983 and came back in 2005 to take on the character.

Dr. Noah Drake
He has 26 songs under his musical belt with Working Class Dog, a music album he released in 1981 especially attracting many musical buffs. Another album that the musician-actor released- “Jessie’s Girl” became #1 on the Billboards charts. It is safe to say that the cast of General Hospital has no short flow of talent.
