Umberto Luce is a stylish shoe company that plans to stir some waves in the male shoe fashionista community with its sleek, hand made, contemporary style footwear. The shoes are reportedly all hand made in Mexico, with a big BUT… you would expect to pay $600+ for boots of this kind, yet here we have budget-friendly prices and good quality construction.
The ordering process on their website is very straight forward and they also have an adequate shoe sizing section. Boots arrived in a branded box and wrapped neatly in protective tissue paper. These little details immediately gave off a good impression. My first thought upon seeing my new boots was that the type of eco friendly leather they use was soft and adapts nicely to your foot, with a footbed that is durable yet a bit flexible. Putting on the boots was very easy, and the trunks posed no obstruction when sliding in my foot. I had no concerns to wear these boots for any great length of time. A problem with hand made shoes is usually uniformity, but my boots looked very much identical, almost like Siamese twins. Even the natural leather blemishes seemed to be replicated on both boots, creating a good synergy of symmetry. My boots have a classic round toe and a standard fit. I found the shape to be highly elegant and handsome. They look classic, yet modern, and are made to last under normal everyday use. Stitching was well crafted, and pattern and design are overall well executed. The brogue holes are nicely spaced and punched through, and the pattern is followed identically on both shoes.
This range of boots has a lot of potential, both when it comes to varied style choice and colors. The craftsmanship and style are what one would expect on a far more expensive boots, and the materials hold up to very good standards.
