The visuals directed by Will Kindrick are quite brilliant. The clip revolves around a Japanese security guard through his daily routine, but with a twist that only Hot Chip could pull off.
The main protagonist dances his way through his shift, bringing an infectious energy and wholehearted dedication to keeping people safe on the roads. All this while the Electro-Pop quintet appears everywhere, including on screens in building advertisements.
A Japanese Adventure in Traffic Safety
It’s quirky, it’s heartwarming, and it captures that sense of finding joy in the mundane that Hot Chip has always been so good at expressing. Plus, on the whole, it showcases the beautiful metaphor for dedication and passion.
The urban setting adds this interesting layer of visual storytelling that makes it easily the best music video filmed in Japan that you’ve seen in memory.
Not to mention, the song has a perfect blend of electronic beats and emotional depth that these guys have mastered over their two-decade career.
