Interview | Questions And Answers With CLONE

Interview | Questions And Answers With CLONEThere is a new masked musician on the block, but this time, it’s not just another Deadmau5 clone. In fact CLONE (as he calls himself) worked together with several musicians around the world including a number of talented vocalists to deliver a very solid debut EP covering mutiple sounds of EDM. I had the opportunity to discover more about his interesting music project and ideas…

1 – Why did you decide to keep your identity as a “secret”?

So far I want people to see what I’ve created and enjoy the project as a whole without me getting in between. This black masked character represents me and will be what people see when they hear the word CLONE. I don’t want to hide myself, nor want it to be a gimmick. I’m writing my own story and this is my way of telling it.

2 – Can you describe how does your outfit looks like?

It consists of a black mask and an exosuit. Nothing to fancy. Tony Stark sent me a message last time telling me I had good tastes.

3 – How old are you? When did you start your DJing career?

I’m 23. I started producing at the age of 18 and got into DJing a few years later. I do hate this word though.

4 – Is your current music style still influenced by acts such as Daft Punk, Justice and Sebastian?

I’m still influenced by those artists but not as much as I used to be in the past. I learned from them and thought the production back in the days was outstanding. That blew my mind when I first got into electronic music. My roots are important but music is all about going forward and making something fresh everytime. Other artists influenced me along the way of course on different aspects like songwriting but I’ll always want my music to have this high level of production no matter what the genre is.

5 – Is your latest single called “Inside My Heart”? Is it available for free?

Yes it is. It’s a track I really loved making and writing. It pushed my boundaries regarding what I could do with vocals and how I could treat them differently to create something new and unique. The track is available for free on my Facebook page. No like, no share, you can just click and get it here:

6 – Who are the vocalists that collaborated with you on your upcoming EP ‘Black Mask’?

That’s something I won’t share haha. It’s something I’m proud of and it’ll stay a secret.

7 – Why did this EP take you so long to produce? Two years, right?

Learning, experimenting and trying to find my own path is what made it take this long. I could have easily released a single here and there but that’s not what I wanted. I wanted to put out a solid EP with everything that goes with it. The right singers, the visuals, the character, the videos. I wanted to be 100% satisfied with everything. It took a lot of time but I’m proud of the results and know I have to keep this bar up for my next releases.

8 – Do you have any other occupations besides being an artist?

I do love sci-fi movies. Maybe that’s where I get my inspiration from for the visuals and character. I’ve always been amazed by what technology allows you to do and it drives me as an artist.

9 – What do you think about the dispute between Deadmau5 and Marshmello?

I don’t really care to be honest. For me it’s just internet entertainment. I’m too focused on what I’m doing to pay attention to those rants. Music talks first. Gossip isn’t my thing.

10 – When and where is your next live performance?

I’m still preparing myself for that. Now that I released my EP I know I have a solid base to build and create something that is visually appealing and that would match my standards. It’s not only about DJing anymore, it’s about putting together a whole show and making it as perfect as it can be so people get the full experience. This is much more than just playing a certain amount of tracks back to back for an hour and calling it a day.
