Jurab on Rebel Yard Proves Rap Isn’t the Only “Gangsta” Genre

Jurab on Rebel Yard Proves Rap Isn't the Only "Gangsta" Genre
Renegade reputations in the music world used to be strictly reserved for only the most nefarious of rappers, but in recent years EDM producers have shown that rap isn’ t the only genre that can be gangster. Rebel Yard‘s newest producer, Jurab, attests to this with his first release, a heavy-hitting bass track appropriately titled “Gangsta”.

The Dutch producer may be young, but you could never tell as he melds multiple genres throughout “Gangsta”; the electro – influenced introduction quickly transitions into some serious percussive beats to drive the pace forward, and then Jurab lays down some grimy bass for the drop. All of this is accented by MC Roga inspired by Tupac “There’s gonna be some stuff you gonna see that’s gonna make it hard to smile in the future”. The effect is daunting and haunting, a win for the up-and-coming Jurab‘s premiere release.

Jurab is the newest dynamic, forward-thinking addition to label Rebel Yard‘s roster of talent, which is spearheaded by founders the Partysquad. Beginning his DJ career in a local club at 17, Jurab quickly grew tired of playing the standard rotation of tracks and began producing his own music, which is a blend of UK garage and bass music with an urban flair. His unique style fits right in with Rebel Yard‘s mission to provide a platform for diverse and versatile artists to release cutting edge music. By adding young producers with raw potential like Jurab to their repertoire, Rebel Yard continues to establish itself in genre-bending future of dance music labels.

401 WST Releases Debut EP That Blends Hip-Hop With House Music

Published

401 WST debut EP
Canadian duo 401 WST throws it back to the ’80s with the epic debut of their 3-track ‘Our House’ EP, composed of recently released “Do The Damn Thang” and 2 brand new songs that fuse Hip-Hop sounds and House music. The DJ/producer partners create a seamless fusion of genres on “Real Quick” and its accompanying music video; classic urban rhythms are complemented by a deep rolling bassline and kickdrums to add an electronic flair. “Alive” follows suit of “Do The Damn Thang” and is perhaps the more house-influenced of the two new tracks, melding a Tech-House bassline and deeply reverberating synths with hedonistic lyrics about partying and hitting the dance floor – a novel concept in the global pandemic. The ‘Our House’ EP evokes memories of Chicago in the ’80s when Hip-Hop and House were at their heyday in the underground. As Black musicians, the duo places very high importance on taking it back to the essence of where House music began and paying homage to the originators of it all. 401 WST’s sound is raw and unfiltered, providing a breath of fresh air in the age of autotune, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

International DJ 4Korners and emerging producer Ashton Adams come together to form 401 WST, which is named after the highway that connects their Canadian hometowns of Toronto and Cambridge. Prior to the project, 4Korners experienced global success and has performed at the Cannes Film Festival, London Fashion Week, Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi, and the Olympic Games, among others. He has also been awarded the prestigious titles of Canadian DJ Of The Year and an NBA Championship as Official DJ of the Toronto Raptors. Ashton Adams’ production versatility stems from his exposure to a wide variety of genres. From the classic Hip-Hop sound of 50 Cent and Lil Wayne, all the way to Heavy Metal bands such as August Burns Red and Under Oath. As 401 WST, the two artists have set out to create music that focuses less on commercialization and more on the old school values of bringing people together and having a good time. With such a unique sound and feel-good approach, ‘Our House’ is the beginning of an exciting journey for 401 WST.

The lead single “No More” opens the sonic venture with piano melodies coupled with reverberating synths, all complemented by soulful vocals that make for a groove-worthy track to sing along to. Afterward comes “So Good,” delivering deep instrumental basslines for a more underground sound, followed by the disco-influenced “You Got Me,” which provides an energetic and feel-good finale to the EP. ‘Reset’ marks Maximals’ 11th Protocol release, following “What Are You Waiting For” with Chad Kowal released on Protocol earlier this year, and “Back To You” on Showtek’s Skink.

YARO Trilane Unlove You
YARO & Trilane return to Protocol with their new single “Unlove You, featuring Swedish singer EEVA. After opening with haunting vocals that set the stage for the track’s emotive vibe, YARO and Trilane employ their signature touches to deliver UK garage-inspired, piano-driven basslines and uplifting melodies. The result is a catchy house track with plenty of groove that is another perfect fit for Protocol. “Unlove You” follows Trilane and YARO’s previous collaboration “Way Out,” which got support from BBC Radio 1’s Party Anthems and British KISS FM. This release marks Trilane’s 12th on the label, which have included successful singles, such as “Bittersweet” with Nicky Romero himself, “I Want You To Know,” “Come Back Down” and more. Swedish singer/songwriter EEVA debuted in 2019 with “A Girl Can Tell” and has experienced international success with her recent single “Someone New” with Johnning.

Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings has quickly become a renowned, taste-making imprint with a diverse roster of artists who all have one thing in common – the ability to excellently produce forward-thinking electronic music. Enter Trilane and YARO, the veteran duo and talented up-and-comer who regularly combine forces with tracks that always knock it out of the park. Trilane counts legends like Swedish House Mafia among their inspirations, the influence of which is nuanced in the larger-than-life feel of their productions. Their past releases include releases on Dirty South’s Phazing, Afrojack’s Wall Recordings, and Mirage Records, to name a few. YARO began his music career more recently, but the young prodigy is already one of the best percussionists in his native Sweden; his talent was recognized when he was just a little boy touring around Europe accompanied by the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. He now works with artists such as Icona Pop, Benjamin Ingrosso, and many more. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of these talented members of the Protocol crew!

Radical Right-Wing Pastor Goes Viral With This House Remix Video

Published

Radical right-wing pastor Paula White goes viral after she delivered a prayer service speaking in tongues in order to secure Trump’s reelection. Not to mention, she even called on “angelic reinforcement” from Africa and South America. Creatively, Seattle-based DJ vxrt uploaded a House remix video on Twitter adding his own funny twist. Personally, I don’t think the spiritual adviser to the former American president can make “miracles” at the moment, but I’m sure she’s having us laughing out loud with her nonsense/crazy attitude.

On more than one occasion, she has been criticized for using religion to manipulate people of faith. Those evangelicals who continue to support Trump and are willing to turn a blind eye to his bigotry and racism should reflect on their wrong actions…

So far, I want to congratulate my American friends on the promising victory of Joe Biden. Well, I can’t think of anything to say besides FUCK Donald Trump. 😂
