Pete Tong has expressed his pride at being awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). The British DJ received this recognition for his contributions to broadcasting and music in the 2014 New Year Honours List.
In his statement, Tong thanked BBC Radio 1 and the various club promoters he’s collaborated with throughout his career.
“It’s fantastic to be honored for being a DJ. I’m proud that this acknowledges a profession I deeply care about and one that has made a significant impact globally. A huge thanks to BBC Radio 1 for their unwavering support of dance and electronic music and for backing me for over 20 years. I also want to thank all the club promoters in the UK and worldwide for their dedication to creating amazing events, as well as the artists, producers, and DJs who have been innovating in the music scene.” — Pete Tong
He is also working on an upcoming film project with Lionsgate, with more details to be announced soon.
