Quickfire Interview With: RUUD

DJ & Producer RUUD is influenced by the global sound of EDM. Incredibly, he took his first steps producing for other artists. Over the years, nobody could have imagined his compositions were worthy of millions of streams. One clear example is “Fireflies”,  which surpassed over 240K plays via Spotify. Nowadays, this talented guy also works solo for Sony Music Norway. So, we talked about the basics through this quickfire interview below.

1 – You’ve been DJing and producing since…

I’ve been producing for about 4-5 years.

2 – You got involved in the music realm because…

I started listening to Dubstep around 2010, and the interest grew from there. In school, we had an assignment to create a melody, so I downloaded Ableton and tried to make something. The result wasn’t very good, but I liked it, so I continued making music.

3 – Your sound is…

I don’t really know, I just make whatever sounds good to me. I love tweaking and chopping vocals, so a lot of my tracks involve some sort of vocal effects.

4 – Your biggest inspiration is…

I get a lot of inspiration from the EDM scene, to bring that into my own pop music.

5 – Fans should listen to your new single “Fire It Up” because…

Fans should listen to it if they like it. The drop has a cool vibe, the distorted vocals and the heavy bass sounds really cool and original.

6 – Your dream is…

My dream is to be able to make a living from Music.

7 – Your next release is called…

Who knows? 😉

8 – Your all-time favourite track is…

Hmm, Dada Life – Feed The Dada, maybe? Hard to say, but it came out in 2012 and I still listen to it.

9 – Your favourite venue/club is…

I don’t know yet. There are a lot of good clubs.

10 – If you weren’t a DJ and Producer you’d probably be…

Student, I guess.

11 – You’ll only stop making music if…

If I go deaf… maybe.

12 – In a few years, you want to be…

A worldwide famous producer.
