Quickfire Interview With: Will Champlin

LA Singer & Songwriter Will Champlin must feel proud of his achievements. To sum up, he joined the winners’ list on season 5 of the popular TV show “The Voice”, earning the third place spot. Not to mention, he has toured and performed his music with the likes of Santana, Billy Ray Cyrus, Glen Frey of the ‘Eagles’, and many more. Read on the following interview and discover new facts about this talented artist below.

1 – You’ve been singing and writing songs since…

Since my teens.

2 – You got involved in the music realm because…

I grew up in a musical household, but really music is my medicine when all wires trip. I have to fall back in Love with music to really push out great works that have an inspiring connection to share.

3 – Your sound is…

New Wave, Soul, with occasional EDM/House and urban elements.

4 – Your biggest inspiration is…

My beautiful daughter Harper. Who’s also becoming very musical.

5 – Fans should listen to your new single “Picasso In My Pocket” because…

It’s a chill uptempo groove with cool movement but also a poetic and chilling story.“Picasso In My Pocket” has a cool string line, and a dope drop with an energetic bassline.

7 –Your most memorable career moment so far has been…

Well, I’ve had good career moments for covers, and had amazing exposure on the NBC Voice Season 5.  I But I performed an original called ‘Eye of the Pyramid’ off my last full album ‘Borrowing Trouble’ live on Season 6 Semi-Finals. That was a vert high-energy song, although Dub-step elements are not really in right now, other cool Muse-like anthemic Rock elements maintained dominance throughout the track.

8 – Your dream is…

I’m just here to channel my energy and vibe into the music and put all dreams into higher hands. All I have to do is crank out great music consistently.

9 – Your next release is called…

“Great Divide” is next on my end, although, I will have a remix of “Picasso In My Pocket” dropping after New Years. There will also be a 5-track EP called ‘Chasing Fire’ which will be released through POSITION MUSIC company.

10 – Your all-time favourite track is…

“Go Crazy” by Prince & the Revolution.

11 – Your favourite place to perform music is…

A Place with great sound!

12 – If you weren’t a singer you’d probably be…

Definitely, full-time producer/engineer.

13 – You’ll only stop making music if…

Well, I see a lot of people fall out of love with music. I have to avoid that fate and do all I need to keep capturing the inspiration to spark the flame for great songs. I would like to say, I’d only stop when I stop breathing.

14 – In a few years, you want to be…

High ambitions have been a letdown because it’s easy to romanticize of a prosper future that you can get off track and not put the work on it to reach that goal. It’s easy to get caught up in fantasizing about the result rather than put the reps inconsistently.

15  – What are you doing for the rest of the day?

For the rest of the day, I’m going to my daughter’s school for a holiday/Xmas concert this evening and then gonna work on topline/lyrics for a sweet Ethnic EDM House vibe kinda a Rufus Du Sol feel. I’m always living with ideas and tracks and I go with what grows on me in a profound way.
