Watch RoboCop unseen Techno club scene from the film released in 1987. Both RoboCop & Techno music are originally from Detroit, the American city that gave birth to this phenomenal underground electronic music genre.
The big news is that a remake of RoboCop is coming our way in 2013. The upcoming Sci-Fi film will star Joel Kinnaman in the role originated by Peter Weller, and it’s going to be directed by Jose Padilha.
It’s pretty wild when you think about it, here’s this cyborg cop patrolling the mean streets of Detroit while the city’s own Techno beats are pulsing in the background. The connection between RoboCop’s gritty futurism and Detroit’s electronic music scene isn’t just coincidental.
It’s the perfect soundtrack to a city already living in tomorrow.
RoboCop and Techno Music Reflect Detroit’s Futuristic Vision
Paul Verhoeven’s original RoboCop is a cult classic set in a gritty, dystopian Detroit. Much like RoboCop, Techno music emerged in the 1980s as a futuristic, boundary-pushing genre.
It was pioneered by Detroit artists like Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson.
Indeed, this connection highlights the city’s rich cultural legacy, blending innovation in both technology and music.
Fans of the original can look forward to the 2013 remake, offering updated effects and a modern twist.
