People often describe SebastiAn as the dark side of Ed Banger Records, a reputation that he not only accepts but seems to relish. His gritty, experimental approach to electronic music has certainly set him apart from his peers. However, it’s also worth acknowledging that SebastiAn played a pivotal role in shaping what has now become the signature “Ed Banger sound.”
When I first listened to “Embody,” it felt like an unexpected revelation. The track instantly evoked an image in my mind: Prince and SebastiAn sitting in a smoky, dimly lit basement in Paris, casually sharing a glass of wine. There’s a touch of funk, a dash of electro-grit, and a whole lot of artistic flair. The contrast between the smooth melodies and rough edges captured the essence of both artists, one channeling 80s soul, the other pushing the boundaries of modern electronic music.
SebastiAn has always been known for surprising his listeners, and “Embody” is no exception. The track offers a glimpse of his range as a producer, blending Funk, Pop, and his signature distorted, heavy beats.
