Free to download and built entirely out of tracks he loves, ‘SPAG PACK 001’ is out now on SoundCloud – six unofficial remixes and bootlegs handed straight to the fans at no cost.

The choice of format is deliberate: flips and remixes were how Mischa Reining built his career in the first place, taking records he admired and rebuilding them into something of his own. Putting a pack of them out for free is a way of giving that energy back to the community that carried him here.

It follows a busy year under his new name – after over a decade as Spag Heddy, he rebranded to SPAG earlier this year, marking the shift with the single “Messiah” in March and the “THIS IS: SPAG” EP in May. That rebrand was less a reinvention than a sharpening: where Spag Heddy leaned into colour and playfulness, SPAG is darker and more deliberate – grit, distortion, and raw energy, with visuals stripped back to black, white, and fragments of red, built from cutout collage and mixed media that nod to punk and skate culture.

Fifteen years in, the cartoon is gone and what’s left is the core: harder, heavier, and uncompromising. “SPAG PACK 001” is the same instinct pointed back at the people who have followed him through all of it.

“Dubstep gave me a career, and flips & remixes were a huge part of that journey. I’ve spent years taking tracks I love and turning them into something of my own. Now I want to give some of that energy back to the community that made this whole thing possible. Free flips & remixes” — SPAG

Mischa Reining, known for over a decade as Spag Heddy, has built a global reputation on boundary-pushing bass music, relentless touring, and a catalog that helped shape the modern bass scene. Since 2011, his music has dominated festivals, clubs, and main stages worldwide, earning support from artists like Skrillex, Excision, Subtronics, and NGHTMRE, as well as official remixes for The Chainsmokers, Krewella, and SLANDER.

From early viral hits to sold-out headline tours and major support runs with Zomboy, Flux Pavilion, Excision, and Zeds Dead, Spag Heddy carved out a distinct lane: hard-hitting, melodic, and unmistakably his own. Now, that chapter evolves. THIS IS: SPAG. A new form. A sharper edge. Stripped of the cartoon, refined to its core. SPAG represents a darker, more focused direction rooted in grit, distortion, and raw energy.

Where Spag Heddy embraced color and playfulness, SPAG is deliberate, heavy, and uncompromising. The sound is tougher. The visuals are stripped back: black, white, and fragments of red expressed through cutout collage and mixed media. A nod to punk and skate culture, grounded in texture, imperfection, and authenticity. No excess. No irony. This is not a departure from the past, it’s the result of it. Fifteen years in the game, rebuilt with intent. SPAG is serious business.
