Being a spoken word artist isn’t easy. The technique demands serious practice, controlled breathing, a love for poetry, and above all, the guts to speak the raw truth. Mikey Tableman lives up to all of it on “The Tea,” and he’s not holding back!
With gentle bass and lo-fi beats in the background, a cinematic atmosphere unfolds as Mikey lays bare everything he’s been holding inside. It’s literally a therapy session turned into a song, something different and undeniably creative on his part.
If you’re curious to hear how his words carry all that emotional weight while keeping his flow impeccable, watch the music video below.
Not Just a Song, A Starting Point
“The Tea” marks the opening track of something much bigger. This tune kicks off ‘My Manic Maze,’ an EP arriving July 10.
The project brings together poetry, film, and live shows to walk audiences through Mikey’s own struggles with addiction, trauma, burnout, and the long road to healing.
Besides, the goal isn’t to slap a label on what he went through. It’s to give listeners a mirror, a way to recognize their own mental chaos through someone else’s story.
As a matter of fact, “The Tea” got its first live run at The Alchemy, a showcase event at LA’s Peppermint Club put together by A Mind’s Pursuit, Critical Breakdown, and The Juice Joint. And the timing wasn’t random. The moment he finished performing, the track went live on every streaming platform.
Part party, part official launch, all at the same time.
A Mission That Goes Beyond Music
If you’re wondering why this spoken word artist is so good at what he does, it’s because music isn’t his only lane. Mikey’s also a motivational speaker.
On a side note, he’s also the founder of A Mind’s Pursuit, a nonprofit focused on mental health initiatives, including ADHD. The LA-based creative now expands that mission with Conversations With the Boys, a new roundtable series launching June 24 that centers on men specifically.

Conclusion
In short, “The Tea” pulls back the curtain on what anxiety really looks like from the inside. More often than not, it’s fueled by the fast-paced life you lead, caught between constant urgency and the pressure to always perform at your best.
Add overthinking into the mix, along with a nonstop flood of information coming at you from every direction, and exhaustion becomes inevitable. One way or another, that strain shows up in this composition.
It draws you into a moment of reflection on something that quietly shapes your everyday life, even when you never stop to notice it.
