Tom & Collins Channel Tracy Chapman
Your favorite cocktail has never sounded so good. Electronic dance duo Tom & Collins have paired their signature, uptempo beat-making with Tracy Chapman’s soulful vocals to remix “Give Me One Reason”. The duo has come a long way since their clap-heavy rearrangement of Madonna’s “Bitch I’m Madonna”. Between their recent MTV Millenial Award nomination and their prestigious placement on Spotify’s Editors’ Picks playlist, the pair is set to break out of their native Mexico and take the international EDM scene by storm.
They’ve already made a good headway, performing at Beyond Wonderland, Tomorrowland, and Road to Ultra, but their international success doesn’t mean abandoning their roots. “Mutual”, another recent Tom & Collins single, was released alongside a music video depicting contemporary, Mexican life. The video employed a multitude of Mexican influencers and artists in the interest of properly showcase the country’s talent. Indeed, the pair seems to expertly balance humility and pride; Plur4All has called their music, “the biggest thing any Mexican DJ has accomplished”, and yet, the opening page of their website reads, “Our music is for anyone… who wants to party”.
