Netflix is the streaming site we all turn to when we feel bored. This site is in growing demand, and it’s definitely a platform that has caught the attention of the entire world. For fans of EDM, I have prepared a list of good movies that you must watch now on Netflix.
You can expect drama and documentaries about the electronic dance music culture.
1. XOXO (2016)
A Netflix original drama film about a group of 20-somethings on a crazy adventure to the biggest EDM festival in America, XOXO. The film follows six strangers whose lives collide in one frenetic, dream-chasing, hopelessly romantic night. At the center is Ethan, a young DJ who gets a last-minute slot to perform after his tracks go viral online days before the festival.
2. This Was Tomorrow (2015)
This documentary marks the tenth anniversary of the great music festival known as Tomorrowland. Here you learn the impact of music festivals and what electronic dance music means to people.
3. I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead (2016)
Here we have a fresh documentary made exclusively for Netflix. It’s a heart-pumping yet heart-wrenching documentary about one of the most eminent DJs working today: Steve Aoki. In the lead-up to Aoki’s biggest show of his career, this introspective doc examines the driving force behind his passion.
4. People Of Tomorrow (2014)
This is another doc about a Belgian music festival that draws multitudes from all corners of the world to enjoy a fantastical and free-spirited world of music, dance, and bonding.
5. Armin van Buuren: This Was Intense (2015)
This film tells the behind-the-scenes of Armin van Buuren’s Intense world tour, which happened between 2013 to 2014. I love trance music, and people who love trance will be able to tell you how trance moves people to feel waves of emotions that are entirely personal and personally dependent.
Bonus Recommendation – Avicii: I’m Tim (2024)
This heartfelt documentary tells the story of Tim Bergling, the shy and introverted boy who became the globally beloved artist Avicii. Directed by Henrik Burman, the film dives into Tim’s journey, highlighting his creativity, struggles, and the profound impact his music had on the world. A must-watch for electronic music enthusiasts alike.
Bonus Recommendation – Banger (2025)
Scorpex, an old-school DJ whose career is totally dead, gets roped into a sketchy job by the cops: he has to go undercover to take down a drug ring tied to his biggest rival, the mega-hyped DJ Vestax. So, it’s a ridiculous satire where a DJ has to mix snitching for the law with dropping a hit track, making it a goofy addition to the growing list of EDM movies.
