Need to escape reality? Deane‘s “Back To Life” is a synth-driven portal out. It’s what happens when you take French Touch inspiration from artists like Daft Punk and Justice, run it through vintage analog tones, and create something that feels both futuristic and nostalgic.

Nicky Rudolph directed the music video, which is equal parts hypnotic and unsettling, and therefore the perfect visual companion to this catchy tune.

The song concept revolves around survival in a world controlled by artificial intelligence. Deane’s built an entire dystopian narrative where the Cybersphere (an all-powerful AI supercomputer) rules society, and honestly, with how fast AI is advancing in our actual world, that future might be right around the corner.

Synth-Driven Sounds from the Cyber-World

“Back To Life” stands out as a synth-driven production. Not to mention, the Los Angeles-based artist flexes classic Juno HS-60 and OB-Xa synthesizers for max retro sound.

On the other hand, this new song went through a serious glow-up while Deane was cooking it up. He had a lightbulb moment, switched the chorus chords, and flipped the rhythm from stiff robot mode to a more human groove.

Consequently, he made the composition hit with real emotion.

Music, Solitude, and Emotional Escape

Underneath those shiny synths, “Back To Life” feels super personal. It’s about losing someone and using music to get through it. The verses came from a vibe Deane had of a lonely dance floor under a Disco ball, and co-writer Ian Johnson helped turn such a relatable situation into lyrics, capturing that moment of finding comfort in the beat when everything else fades.

The Beginning of Something Bigger

“Back To Life” is where Deane’s new project kicks off. Indeed, it’s the first track establishing the direction for his upcoming EP and album, showing exactly who he is now.

Plus, this one is straight-up fire, just like his 2024 banger, “Keep Dancing To The Music,” which has already racked up over a million listens.

With its mix of old-school analog gear, cutting-edge audio, and sci-fi storytelling, his synth-driven music opens the door to a world that is part future, part retro, and completely gripping. Wanna know more? Peep his socials below.
