Ultra Records
Today, Ultra Records delivers the inaugural compilation of their new U R DJ Mix Series, which breathes new life into their iconic Ultra Dance compilation series that originally launched in physical format in 2002. Taking on the duties of mixing the first installment of the series, ‘U R House, is Ultra Records president David Waxman, who is set to carry on the tradition, reimagined for the modern era of streaming.

For over 20 years, the Ultra Dance compilation series brought the energy of the dancefloor to homes around the globe. Starting in 2002 millions of physical albums were sold across the first 20 compilations released since, beginning with Ultra Dance 1 (which sold 150,000 copies). It was truly essential to the culture and inspired countless DJs and artists to pursue their passion.

“The Ultra Records brand was built in part from the Ultra compilation series: Ultra Dance, Ultra Chilled, Ultra Electro, and many more. By reimagining this series for the streaming era, the new UR mixes will deliver what Ultra has been known for: bringing exciting dance sounds and styles into the mainstream. From remakes of classic Hip-Hop and R&B tracks to brand new club bangers, Ultra has released some incredible House music over the years and because I grew up listening to House music in its golden era, I want to make sure we will continue to do so for years to come.” — David Waxman

David Waxman took over as the Ultra Records President in January 2022, coinciding with the label moving from independent to a major as a part of Sony Music. Since becoming President, Waxman has helped sign and re-sign a number of marquee artists including MK, DVBBS, Cash Cash, Austin Millz, and J. Worra.

Waxman holds a wide-ranging career in electronic music that spans over 25 years. Originally starting out as an NYC club promoter in his teens, he moved on to managing legendary venues like The Palladium, The Tunnel, and Limelight before becoming an acclaimed electronic music DJ. From there, David landed residencies at some of the most renowned nightclubs in the world at the time, including Twilo (NY), Liquid (Miami), and Crobar (NY, Chicago, and Miami). Around the same time, he became a journalist for Mixmag and was promoted to editor for the magazine as well as A&R for their parent company, DMC. Shortly after, he began the start of his long-lasting tenure at Ultra. As head of the A&R for Ultra, he has worked with artists including Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi, Black Coffee, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Pitbull, and Tiesto among many others.

‘U R House’ contains House-focused selections from Waxman that features artists like Sofi Tukker, Idris Elba, Anabel Englund, DVBBS, Solardo, Icona Pop, and more.
