House maestro David Zowie has premiered his new video clip for the deep house stomper “House Every Weekend.” The track is his debut single, dropped on 3 July 2015 via Virgin EMI Records, and it’s the kind of release that feels perfectly built for any occasion, whether you’re pre-gaming at home or already deep on the dancefloor.

A Happy Accident in the Studio

The origin story of this track is pretty cool. Zowie was digging through old a cappellas on his PC, stuff sourced from a Nervous Records vinyl, when he stumbled across a vocal that caught his attention.

The original lyrics were actually about being stuck at home during the weekend, but Zowie flipped the whole concept around, turning it into something positive and feel-good. That creative twist ended up being the secret sauce.

From House Parties to the Big Stage

The song didn’t blow up overnight through a label push. It earned its stripes the old-fashioned way. Zowie first played it at a house party with his friends, and a DJ there liked it so much he asked for a copy and started dropping it in his sets. From there, it spread organically, getting picked up as a warm-up track at clubs and events like Egg, Defected, and Audio Rehab.

Things really kicked into gear when The Magician and Alex Metric took the track on their American tours. That exposure eventually put it in front of Pete Tong and Annie Mac, who both gave it spins on their BBC Radio 1 shows. At that point, there was no stopping it.

The Music Video

The video has been described as a heartfelt tribute to the underground dance scene, treating movement as both personal expression and a wider cultural statement.

Visuals were handled by CRYbaby Media, and they do a solid job of capturing the spirit of the music. The single has since gone Platinum in both the UK and New Zealand, a well-deserved milestone for a track that climbed to the top entirely on its own merit.

Chart History Was Made

The chart run for “House Every Weekend” is genuinely remarkable. On 8 July 2015, the Official Charts Company announced it had hit number one in the Official Chart Update, and it was set to become the first Friday number-one since 1960, tied to the charts switching their announcement day from Sunday to Friday.

It eventually topped the full UK Singles Chart on 10 July, beating out “Shine” by Years & Years by fewer than 1,000 copies. That’s an incredibly tight race for the top spot.
