Josh Mitchell is one of the most sought-after indie publicists in the entertainment industry, due to his fresh and distinctive approach to film, fashion, and music. He is the founder and CEO of Wickid Pissa Publicity, a full-service public relations, marketing, branding, and events firm based out of Los Angeles.
Recently, this Boston native wrapped production on two new feature films – “Wine Tasting” and “Coffee & Cabbage.”
As the 2017 Sundance Film Festival approaches, we took the opportunity to speak to him about his latest clients, projects, and initiatives for the new year.
1 – How did you get started as an indie filmmaker and what motivates you?
JM: My interest in film grew when I was eight years old. My parents split and I would visit my father on the weekend and he would take me to the movies. I distinctly remember seeing a double-header of The Sword in the Stone and Flashdance and at that moment, I was hooked. I am motivated by eccentric stories and unique people. I like to lift up rocks and show the world ideas and professions that are arcane and unexplored.
2 – What advice are you able to provide other filmmakers, who are looking to break into the industry?
JM: The smartest path is to knock down every door in this industry, instead of waiting for the knock on your door. The best way to break through is to create your own content and announce yourself to the creative masses. Do not wait and hope for some arbitrary opportunity – create your own.
3 – Tell us about your new feature film, Wine Tasting?
Wine Tasting was written and executive produced by my writing client Justin Samuels. It presents the damage that high-pressure careers cause in the lives of four male wine tasters. They sacrifice considerable sums of money and time in order to pass the sommelier exam. Their relationship is tested when one out of the four guys doesn’t pass – leading to a series of scandalous repercussions.
JM: It’s going to be a prolific and action-packed fest, filled with a diverse and ground-breaking slate of compelling films. Some of the best films of the year like “Birth of a Nation” and “Manchester By The Sea” stemmed from Sundance so I’m excited to see what will be the new breakout hits.
5 – Who will you be representing on the 2017 Sundance talent roster?
JM: I will be there with actress Jenae Alt who has a lead role in “Wine Tasting” and actress Christina Robinson from “Dexter.” I’m also repping music manager Kim K Jones and her artist Aleisha Simpson of the band Heart. Other key talent is Breezeway Productions producer Alex Helisek, actor Adam Tsekman, and writer-producer-lawyer Samantha Herman.
6 – What are you able to offer potential clients, who are interested in working with you at 2017 Sundance?
JM: I offer my clients elite access to the best and brightest events in Park City. I create a detailed official party and event grid, which provides a day-to-day breakdown of all festival industry activities. I have direct links to an array of stellar lounges and gifting suites which would enhance their visibility and maximize their festival attendance. My connections and email introductions put my clients on the radar screen of the top movers and shakers in Hollywood.
7 – What is an indie publicist, why should someone hire one, and what are the benefits?
JM: An indie publicist works outside of an agency. If someone is looking to take their career to the next level, expanding their brand and adding credibility, they should hire a publicist. My services are an economical option for those who are unable to afford the $3,000 retainer cost of a large company. I charge $500 for an aggressive one-month campaign and my results are fast, furious, and guaranteed.

Tips For Finding Affordable Pet Insurance
Pet insurance can help you save money on emergency treatment for your furry friend. If you’re looking for the most affordable pet insurance policy around, there are a few things that you’ll want to look for specifically. Let’s take a look at some of the top tips for saving money on your pet insurance policy.
Don’t Stick with One Carrier
Opting for a single carrier is usually a bad idea if you’re looking to save money on your pet insurance because getting a good deal is all about exploring your options. There are many factors that go into determining the cost of your pet insurance, and some carriers will look at certain factors, such as your location, differently.
We’d recommend getting a quote from at least four or five different carriers before deciding on the best one since this will give you a pretty good idea of how much you can expect to pay for coverage. Once you have a ballpark estimate of the cost of coverage, you can then make a more informed decision and acquire the best pet insurance.
Bundle Your Coverage
One of the biggest mistakes that people make when shopping for insurance is not checking to see if one of their existing insurance carriers offers the coverage that they’re looking for. For example, if your car insurance or home insurance company offers pet insurance, you may be able to save by going with them.
This is because an insurance carrier doesn’t want to lose your business to a competitor. To keep you working with them across various types of insurance, they’ll typically offer you a discount if you bundle your pet insurance with one of their other kinds of coverage.
Get Your Pet’s Insurance While They’re Young
Don’t wait until your pet gets old to get them insurance since you’ll likely end up spending a lot more money on your premiums at that point. This is because of the higher likelihood of an older pet getting sick or injured because their systems simply aren’t as robust as they used to be.
This increases the likelihood of you needing to file a claim for your pet, which is something that insurance companies know well. If they’re going to be more likely to pay out, an insurance carrier will charge you more for your pet’s coverage. If you get coverage young enough, some insurance companies will freeze your pet’s rate at the one they had when they were young.
Pick a Breed that isn’t Predisposed to Genetic Conditions
Many pet insurance companies will also consider the breed of pet that you have when coming up with your premium. Certain breeds are more likely to contract specific conditions, many of which can be extremely costly to treat.
The size of your breed will also impact the cost of your pet insurance since larger breeds of both dogs and cats will cost more for a vet to handle. If you’re looking to limit the amount you spend on insurance, opt for a smaller, healthier breed.
5 Innovative Digital Solutions For Restaurants
Is your company striving to become more innovative? How about upgrading your technology? Social media (such as Yelp and Instagram) have infused technology into the dining experience, and people love it. The right technological enhancements will help you give your customers the experience they’re looking for, and you’ll retain and gain new customers as a result.
It is a challenge to decide what technology to implement to achieve a competitive advantage. Using technology can improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs, improve food safety, and increase revenue. Isn’t that amazing? Here are the top technologies that restaurants should consider implementing to stay competitive, such as a LED Light box.
1. Digital Point-of-Sale System
What does it do? Cloud-based point-of-sale systems are the best way to empower your staff: waitstaff can place orders, the kitchen can receive orders instantly, and cashiers can process payments.
Using report features helps owners and managers improve operations by making data-backed decisions, such as which items are selling well or poorly, eliminating guesswork.
2. Scheduling Software
How does it work? Managers can log server and bartender schedules and vacation requests using automated scheduling software. Notifications are sent to the manager of schedule conflicts and gaps, and staff members send reminders when to report in.
Both the customers and the business can benefit from using scheduling software for restaurants. Streamlining the scheduling process means better attendance and freed up time for everyone. This digital solution can also help boost customer loyalty and experience.
For instance, a Live Music, Bar & Restaurant in Manchester can better serve their customers by ensuring the venue can accommodate a sufficient number of people in one day and avoid over exceeding. For this, using scheduling software in managing scheduled events like rave parties, company events, or birthday gatherings would be necessary.
3. Mobile and online ordering
How does it work? Doesn’t it seem like a no-brainer? Despite its obvious benefits, many restaurants don’t implement and execute online ordering properly. It is a plus for customers to see the full menu and how much the order adds up. However, a strong online presence coupled with an outstanding user experience will set you apart from your competitors.
Benefits of online and mobile ordering: Online and mobile ordering eliminate incorrect orders and food waste that often occurs with phone orders. Customers can browse online menus more leisurely, meaning they are more likely to order additional items, increasing sales.
4. Mobile Payment
Fast food and QSR market success are largely dependent on mobile payment technologies. Users don’t have to wait anymore for the server to process their payments with some systems that include mobile card readers right at the table.
Mobile payments are faster than cash and less cumbersome than EMV chip cards. Faster checkout means fewer wait times, faster turnaround, and more sales.
5. Managing waitlists
Diners today don’t appreciate waiting in a restaurant, especially if there’s no space at the bar or in the lounge, and even less if they have to stand in line outside in inclement weather. Apps for waiting list management are easy to use: they notify diners via mobile devices when their tables are ready.
Waitlist management provides several advantages, including enforcing customer rights to roam freely, removing the inconvenience of coasters, and preventing unsightly crowding at the door and in the reception area.
A company that keeps up with the latest technologies can gain a competitive advantage in this digital age. In the restaurant industry, customer perception will be the most important differentiator.
Whatever technology you choose, don’t interrupt the customer’s experience with unnecessary interruptions. A helpful, convenient, and fun innovation is what they are looking for.
